I am thinking of taking my FA91 hunting this year but regulations require mags can only hold 5 rounds. What would be the best way to modify a 20 rounder? I was thinking of some king of block or plug sorta like you would put in a shotgun. What do you guys think?

That would probably work, but would take some experimenting to figure out how big the block would have to be.
There are some 5 round mags available but they are sort of spendy.

Yea I have seen some online but heck I have 30 or so 20 rounders laying around and I think I could put a block in one and be able to take it out and use as a 20 rd again.

A 1x3 cut to the right height will do it . I have modded an AR mad with paint stirring sticks, you can tape 15 empty 308s togather and put them in threw the bottom too. I bet a paint stick will work on the 308 mag too.

The CETME 5-rd mag won't work? They aren't too high. I used it to take my CETME hunting and shot a spike! Since I got the magazine deal from SG, I got a bunch of aluminum G3 mags. Most are too nice to touch but a couple are beaters. I'd try to cut one to near the same length as the CETME mag and roll the edges like the aluminum mags, cut the spring and put the floor plate back on.

Plus on the wood block between the floor plate and the magazine spring. Mark it 5 round on the outside and have fun.

I put a couple pins through the side of the magazine sticking out each side and epoxied them in place. It worked good for what it was.

I did that to an M1 Carbine mag when I lived in Maine. Wood block in the bottom of the mag. As I remember the spring had to be cut to be legal. Pins would work too, betcha they have to be peened over though.

Leggos stacked up to block it off, they make those different thicknesses, then tape them together.

I cut one down (G-3 Mag) with a Dremmel this past summer. Took about 45 mins. and was very easy to do.

Some one had a cut down 20 into a 5-er for sale on here. Wouldnt be too hard I wouldnt think.

The key tool other than a Dremel and cutoff wheel is a pair of Vicegrips with the 2" wide duckbill jaws for bending sheetmetal and flashing. Once you cut the body down and form the tabs, you clench the tabs w/the 'Grips and bend.A little fitting with the Dremel for the floor plate and a $2.99 mag becomes a high-dollar low profile hunting mag. Another plus would be if somebody on here would take down a factory 5 rounder and post the dimensions of the body height and number of spring turns.(hint)

I have a five rounder but in NC we don't have mag restrictions so its to the woods with the 20. I like weasel masters idea of a perminent pin thru the side. That way LE would be able to distinguish visibly without getting their nose bent out of shape which it has been my experience with some.
