just a question.
im a new cetme owner, and i didnt realize that with this rifle the ability to "accessorize" is so great... whitch is awesome by the way.
anyhow, ive notices in the "my cetme"/hk type rifles" thread that some of you guys have some great pistol grips and ive been scouring the internet and i cant seem to find anything different than the typical plastic one. my problem is this, im left handed, and for the most part i shoot left handed. so the righty grips that are typically on cetmes/hks get on my nerves. can any one recommend an affordable grip that is ambidextrous?
also, being left handed in a right handed world of guns makes me a sit-at-a-rest kind of shooter. anybody know where i can get a quality bipod?

Welcome to the fourm, as for grips, you can useally use any HK-91/G-3 grip. The sources are wide and varied, I have stayed with the stock grips my self. As for bipod, if you have a a hk forend with the bipod fixture, you can get one of the aftermarket(or maybe real) bipods sold from various sources.

Again I said though this bipod fits the HK/G-3 forends and not the factory cetme, you will have to get your hands on a HK-91/G-3 forend to work.
They are available all over though for not alot of money, if you change out the forend though you need to make sure your 922r count stays proper(if the fore end on your rifle came from the factory as wood you are ok, but the cetme blackwiddow plastic proably is counted as a compliance part)

Hi Karl,
the options for the CETME pistol grip are a bit varied, but most of the ambidextrous options require a bit of parts changing.
to begin with, the only ambidextrous optin for the CETME was on the Model B, but was dropped with the Model C.
On the other hand the CETME's cousin the HK G3 did have some more lefty-friendly options like the Navy style grip frame.
In order to mount a G3 Navy style grip frame on your CETME, you are looking at replacing pretty much the entire lower assembly. The Navy grip frame is made of glass reinforced plastic, and reqires a specific selector lever to accomodate the thicker sides of the housing. This in turn requires changing out the CETME fire control group with the G3 FCG (hammer, trigger, sear, ejector, springs, pins, FCG frame, the whole works)
While this may seem intimidating, it really is not that complicated,as the whole lower assembly is pretty much a drop-in replacement provided that you keep your compliance parts count correct.
In most CETME rifles the compliance parts in the lower assembly are at the least the Pistol Grip, and Hammer. Some also include US ade Sears and Triggers.
If you put on the Navy grip, the pistol grip becomes part of the grip frame, and if that is HK, then the pistol grip is now an Imported part rather than US made, and another Compliance part will have to be substituted. Fear not, as US made compliance parts the the G3 lower assembly are readily available.
You can get US made hammers, triggers, sears, FCG frames and even navy style grip frames all from www.PTR91.com/store and they are even already modified for semi-auto operation.

Karl, the wood stock set is not stock bipod compatible, hwoever if you are creative, you can mount a harris style bipod onto it with little difficulty.
the stock handguard that accepts the HK bipod is the Wide style handguard. there is one forsale here on the forum:

I modified an HK wood forearm by adding a sling stud. I Heli-coiled the front rivet hole, added a lockwasher, some Loc-tite & threaded in a stud. Now I can use a Harris-style bipod on my Cetme (or G3).

It could be removed and not even leave much to see! Excellent!
you can also make your own grip from the plastic ones. youcan sand them down or get some bondo and some gloves and make one to fit your hand. if you need 1 or 2 to mess around with pm me and i'll send them to you.
another option for a bipod. also works for a vert. grip
