Not really military, but the anscestory is there. FN .40 High Power with the SFS system. Even though it is a .40, it is my most accurate handgun.

That is a nice modern version of the classic Browning HP. Here is my WW2 Canadian contract. Theses were made for the Chinese. I don't know if they made it to China or stayed in Canadian service . Maybe someboDy on this board know the history of these but it does have the shoulder stock cut out on the butt. Also note the high rise ladder type sight. I bought a few years ago. Now one thing about mine It is not a tack driver.

Great pics Norton. Worn, but worn right! I don't know much about high powers. Heck, I didn't even know the Chinese were into them too.:)

Well, I had this on cetmerifles, but I don't mind posting it again.
My recently purchased 1973 Browning 9mm. This pistol has seen use and abuse, and shows it. $300 cash sale, no paperwork. A good candidate for refinish--maybe black T or hard chrome--maybe not, as I like the "been there done that" look. I already have two MecGar 15-rd mags, and a KRD 17-rd mag. A MecGar 20 is on the way.
In these pics, I have already refinished the grips, which were almost completely devoid of finish, and battered looking.
The High Power fits my hand like no other pistol, and I find it carries well for CCW, as well.
Norton, I used to have an inglis, I was stupid to trade it away. There is a genuine inglis holster stock on EBAY right now...
A High Power with a 20-rd mag and a shoulder stock would be an awsome weapon!

Nice one AMD. The refinished grips look new. Good work.

amd
That is what you think of when someone says 'Browning High Power'
Your pistol has the old classic look that made them so desirable. I remember seeing one back in the early 70s when high cap mags were rare and thinking I want one of these someday. The one I saw back then looked just like yours.

As for holsters, I just bought a molded leather clip-on IWB made by Don Hume. I got it from www.gunnersalley.com and it cost $27 +(cheap) shipping. It fits very well, and carries better. Gunners Alley was very easy to order from, and the holster arrived very quickly.
I looked around on the web for a week for a clip on holster specifically for the High Power, and most were $45 to $95. Alot were really for the 1911, but also would "fit" the Browning. $27 for a molded leather holster is a deal.

Thanks AMD...and $27 for any leather is a steal! I paid $40 for the one I have and it's ok but I want one that doesn't "flap" around so much. I'm off to gunner alley now thanks again!:coolgun:
