CMP Garand came in today!!!

I was really shocked that it got here that fast, I ordered it March 23, they sent me an email last week saying that they had the order but don't check for at least 21 days. Then today it showed up!
It is in a lot better shape than I expected for a Rack Grade, the stock has a few small dents that ought to iron out, the overall wear isn't to bad unfortunately the forehand has a couple of cracks. The receiver is dark greenish-gray with and the trigger mechanism, bolt and operating rod don't show much if any real wear.
Of course it has a thin shell of cosmoline covering everything, bright light and a good cleaning will tell. The barrel is apparently full of cosmoline too, so a it is due a scrubbing in the morning.
Luckily I have to take off from work tomorrow to wait for an A/C repairman, so I'll get lotsa time to clean her up!

That's one of the best kind of surprises, and the timing is good too. It looks good, I'm looking forward to a detailed report when it's cleaned up.

When I do take it out, I enjoy shooting mine.

Nice photos of a great rifle...CMP rocks! Be sure to let us see more when you get it cleaned up. Oh yeah, and get us a range report after you get calmed down from you first trip out to the range.

The wood on that looks nicer thatn the wood on the service grade I got in about 3 weeks ago. I had to wait since before thanksgiving as well.

I ordered a new walnut stock from Boyd's but they told me it would be about 10 weeks before they send it.

I don't know why I got mine so fast, maybe being a Vet makes the paperwork easier, I don't know. Might have been because I ordered a couple of spam cans of 30.06 from them last week and they felt sorry for me :toothless: I'm just glad it showed up as fast as it did! :D
I still haven't gotten a chance to clean it up, I had A/C repairmen in my attic all day long replacing an evaporator coil (as slow a pair of morons as I have ever been exposed to) but they house is cool again and Mamma will be happy.
