I just put together my cetme trunnion and barrel assembly (sans receiver) checked bolt gap it was set at .018".Cool i pin it and check it again now its @.025" Here's the problem: I mushroomed the barrel pin and it was poppin and groaning going in.Basically I'm thinkin if i should leave as is and get some -4 or -6 rollers and call it a day? Also i noticed the barrel is galled:nonono:

I believe that's what I'd do too. I sorta mushroomed my pin when putting it in, but I haven't checked my bolt gap since I pressed the pin. Now I'm sorta afraid too! :icon_biggrin: So -4 rollers might be in my future, I know I'm not gonna repress the barrel!

I just got back from checking my rollers...I have 7.96 rollers! Does that mean i have -4 rollers? What are the chances that they were 8mm rollers worn out to 7.96? I also looked at the barrel pin Looks like i'm going to drill it out or get a new trunnion and barrel. Damn shame couse it's a new barrell (century kit) So what are the consequences if i assemble and shoot it with this .025" bolt gap? So I was thinking, I need to press my barrel in further, I was looking at the breech face and thought if i can somehow lap the face down till i get the correct bolt gap? The barrel is not quite flush with the trunnion i say .010-015 is protuding above the trunnion. What's your thoughts guys?

eec4tuner,

when I replaced my barrel I set my BG at 0.016", less than 100 rounds later it is at 0.012-0.013".

BG hasn't changed in an additional 200 rounds, what I think happened in my case is that the barrel "settled in" after the first 100 rounds.

not saying to shoot it, but hand cycle it 100 times or so and see if your barrel "settles in" like mine did.

give it a try, might save you a repress.

Well, I got brave and checked mine, and my bolt gap closed a bit after pressing the pin. I had .017, now a .016 drags on insertion and .015 slips with no interference. I'll check it again after a couple hundred rounds and hope it doesn't settle too much.

I would second hand-cycling the action. Even if the barrel does not move, all of the parts need to "wear-in" against each other to fit properly, and this will drop the bolt gap by 2-3 thousandths.
