If you were going to buy a 1,000 rounds of 8mm what is the best stuff to get for the money? I bought some Yugo ammo at $0.15 per round and I had 6 out of 30 rounds not fire. I won't buy it again.
If you had to pick from the ammo below, what is the best bet?????? Just looking for plinking ammo, but want something dependable. I don't know much about the ammo below.
Israeli $0.10 per round
East German sure fire (steel case, 70's manufacture), $0.125 per round
British sure fire (reloadable brass) $0.14
Romanian 70's Manufacture $0.15

The Yugoslavian ammo has hard primer issues, and I've seen seating depth variation as well, but have yet to have a round I couldn't fire. In a best case scenario, you won't have any misfires if everything in your rifle is up to spec. You might have similar problems with other ammo if your firing pin is worn, or the spring is weak. Check those first, just to be sure, then try firing another set of rounds.

For informal shooting,I would go for the Romy.

I had Turk at .4 cents a round shoots great
Yugo has worked very well in my M48, M1919A4 and K98-- with cracks in the brass... .6 cents a round
I have a case of Romy (.9) but haven't shot it yet

Romanian hands down. Stuff shoots great, groups great and have only had 1 FTF out of 2 cases through the same bolt gun.

more ammoplz, may I ask where you are seeing that variety of ammo advertised?
I might want in on some if it's still available.
BTW, I'd vote for the Romanian for all-purpose throw away ammo but would prefer to try the British if it's truly reloadable.

I highly doubt the Brits made anything reloadable
Almost all of their stuff is Berdan primed and there is no reloaders market in Britain for them to cater to
I could be wrong

I could be wrong There are tools to deprime Berdan cases available here in the US. Berdan primers are available as well.

A TOTAL pain in the butt...not cost effective, either.
