Which one is better? I really want a Cz-52, but the Tokes are cool also, and I can get a CZ delivered to me with my C&R.

I love my CZ 52. Accurate, cheap to shoot and purchase. I don't know much about TT 33's. CZ 83's are C & R available now. I bought two of them and like them as much as my '52. You need to be careful with the 52. Issues with firing pin breakage if you dry fire it and heavy trigger pull are common. Makarov.com has many parts that replace and improve the performance of the 52. I can vouch for their recoil spring, firing pins, and rollers. Really smoothed things out.

I love my 52
I put the Harrington improved firining pin in when my original one broke and the hardened rollers in too
I'd love a TT-33 but the CZ52 is so much cheaper to buy

Having owned both, I would take tokarev any time. Thinner for carry, simpler, more robust. The CZ 52 I had often choked on surplus ammo, while the tok ate everything. I never got as good accuracy with the CZ as I did with the tok (perfect bore on the CZ, pitted bore on the tok). The grip on the tok feels better in my hand.
YMMV.

Quality wise the Tok is better than the CZ52. It also is more "western" in looks and feel. But how many handguns have a roller lock system? Both were military guns and generally are well made. I'd say get a CZ now while they are still cheap, then a Tok. The ammo is the same unless you get a Chinese 9mm Tok. Yeah, you need one of those too.

I too believe you should get both. My Polish Tok is one of the best shooting pistols I own. Does anyone else get any trigger slap from ttheir cz52?

My CZ has eaten everything I have fed through it-- took 700+ rounds for the original firing pin to break and shoots like a top
I wish I had a Tok to compare it with

I say the Cz. I replaced mine with the new firing pin and it eats anything I put in the pipe.

Thanks, EvilBay, $50, but I think they are nicer then many I have seen for $40.

I saw an article on the web somewhere about loading 22 bullets in a Sabot and shooting them out of the cz52, anyone know it?

I haven't notice trigger slap on mine, it doesn't like real slow trigger work, though.
I've read of the sabots on some other board, seemed there was a problem with them, but my memory won't cough up the details.

Pigpen, did you get the 52 that way or did you refinish it? Are those rubber grips? Looks nice.

No trigger slap on mine, either before or after the original firing pin
real smooth shooting

i have both
i like the tokarev much better
there is nothing wrong with the 52, and its a cheaper alternative to shooting that bullet, but it just doesnt compare to the TT
trigger pull is much better on the tt, and you dont have that weak firing pin design on the 52 to deal with, PLUS, the mag catch system on the 52 SUCKS for quick changing of mags - the TTs mag catch release is just like a 1911
also, whatever you do, dont try to see if the lanyard loop and lanyard works on the CZ cause it will pop the lanyard loop out of the frame and your pistol will be lying in the dirt (not sure why they even have a lanyard loop on it with its design)
if it wasnt for the cz52 being so cheap, shooting the tok ammo, and my curiosity of it being roller locked, it wouldnt be in my collection
my opinions only
tt33s are on the C&R list

I just painted the grips
my trigger was so bad on my 52 by the 2nd mag it was to painful to shoot. i took it all apart and smoothed it up and its much better.

Speaking of magazines. I put a mag in mine one day shot 2 rnd & got a FTF. I dropped the mag and noticed the fool plate had fallen off & the pring had fell out. I was in one of my sisters horse pastures that hadn't had horses in it in a while so I never found the spring. Needless to say I only have one mag for my 52 now, unless someone whould like to donate one.:hubba:

i had planned on making a drum mag for the damn thing out of a ppsh drum and using one of the 52 mags as a tower to weld to the drum
then i got the thing and saw how the thing retains mags from the bottom and was depressed about that.
and the lanyard loop is a true story :)
i had it out on its maiden voyage to shoot it, and had the lanyard attached to it. My buddy was asking about the lanyard and what it was for. I had the lanyard wrapped around my wrist so i simply dropped the pistol from about 4 feet up - just let go of it and let gravity take over to demonstrate a point. As soon as the lanyard caught it, it pulled the lanyard loop out of the frame and there was the brand new pistol that rickinvegas handselected for me out of centerfires entire stock of 52s laying in the dirt. That was one of them moments where you feel like a real JACKASS!!
the lanyard loop thingy was buried in the soft sand somewhere, and i had to dig to find it.
the decocker feature can also be dangerous according to some - mine never had a problem, but i was always worried about it. Read up about this before using yours loaded. Shame about that, cause this thing doesnt have enough safeties to carry it in condition 1 like a 1911
i like the 52, and it shoots well, but its no TT
thats not meant as an insult to anyone who likes the 52, hell i like the 52, but it isnt on par with a tokarev plain and simple

Still looking for the info about the sabots. I could load some sliver tipped .223 bullets in it then. Perro, do you know that company that makes grips, they make a G3 grip kinda like a PSG-1 grip, I think they are in europe.

I've got a bunch of zombie ammo coming this week. It's funny how you have yours labeled Perro. I've got one round sitting on my desk that I never shoot. Girlfriend asked what it was for and I said zombies. She didn't understand.

I don't recall exactly how many cases but a bunch of silvertip x54r. I think it's around 5,000 rounds. Also got some 9largo on the way. I'll have to paint the tips silver on that though.

sorry to throw this thread so miserably off track
i searched this stuff when i got it and couldnt find out what i had
just recently searched it, and it turns out there is a cached thread on gunboards about what i have
turns out my zombie ammo is the famed german observation bullet
the yugos loaded german bullets into there cases to make this stuff, and i guess it sells for $5.00 a loose bullet in non shootable condition
woooo hoooo!!!!

Had a CZ52 for a little while, it shot OK, didn't use it much.
Only came with one mag, and I looked around at 2 or 3 shows for more, nobody had any. Probably available online somewhere, didn't check.
Some lovely, otherwise-defenseless brunette barmaiden owns it now.....

I ended up with a cheap, beat up Norinco Model 54 in 7.62x25. I had a decision to make a few months ago between my CZ-52 and the Norinco. I sold the Norinco and I miss it. My grouping with the Norinco was about 1/3 of the grouping with the CZ-52. Given the opportunity again, I would have kept the pitted Norinco with the goes-where-it-wants-to safety and sold the hand picked CZ-52.

I've got both and the TOK wins hands down. Don't get me wrong I like my CZ52 and have never regretted buying it but the TOK is better all around.
