Pics soon to come.

It's a pretty sweet handgun; I like it. It's the smoothest shooting, most accurate handgun I've ever shot. All I have to do now is get my proper grip down now!

Only things I don't like about it is that the muzzle flip is pretty fierce. But it's a small problem in my opinion.
Contrary to many online reviews, the trigger is just fine on it. I've heard of an aftermarket spring to lighten the trigger pull I'ma gonna get. The handgun's easy to get back down though. Just for fun I decided to burn through about 8 rounds as fast as I could. It stayed withing a chest-sized area from about 10 feet away; I was actually impressed.

While shooting I did have 2 failures of sort. When inserting a full (16 round) mag and pulling the slide back and releasing, twice did it strip 2 bullets out of the mag. It didn't do this when I locked the slide back and hit the slide release, so I'm chalking it up to me. It also solidified my belief that these mags are meant to be 15 rounders instead of 16. With 16 rounds in it's kinda hard to push the mag in and really hard to release it. With 15 rounds it's a lot easier. I'll stick with 16 rounds though, evens out my number of double taps and I'll just lock the slide from now on when sticking in a new mag.

I actually like the safeties on it. When I grip the gun properly and touch my finger to the trigger, I don't even notice them.

Field stripping is nice because the trigger doesn't need to be pulled to remove the slide. Just lock the slide back, flip the little lever up and release the slide (slowy!) and it slides right off.

They've got a TLR-1 light at the shop when I got this beauty. I plan on getting it on monday, but then it wouldn't fit in my holster.
I tried searching for special holsters for handguns with lights, but was coming up dry. I don't know if they have a special name or what.

Some mags really don't like being inserted with the slide or bolt forward. It's hard on the spring and may shift the rounds to center instead of out against the mag wall and a double feed results. Nice pistola! I just reloaded some
.40 with Hornady XTPs. They were the only .40 rounds my guy had. WOW! More accurate than any of the plinking ammo I've been buying.

I think the flip is more from the .40 than from the pistol design... every .40s&w I've shot had a sharper recoil and more flip than I expected.

I've been eying up one in 9mm for a bit now, it's a toss up between the XDm and the new CZ, both are 19+1, so it's close right now.

And you can covert it to 357 sig 0r 9mm with just a barrel change.

Yep bought the same gun for my daughter to shoot in USPSA matches and she handles it well. I am getting ready to retire my XD 45 tactical and purchase another xdm 40. it is a darn fine weapon and accurate as ever. i love it.

Sweeet. I wouldn't mind a 9mm barrel for cheaper plinking. I don't know much about the 357 sig other than that it is a bottle neck cartridge. Is it a good penetrator like the 7.62x25?

Awesome; It's good to know that the gun is quality. I was reading reviews about it before getting it and some people were bashing everything about it.

I've read that some PDs quit using 357 sig because of over penetration. Masad Ayoob gives it a thumbs up for one shot stops.

Ah, I see. I'll probably go with the 9mm barrel for plinking. :2pistol:

Here's some pics of it. I got the TLR-1 today.

EDIT: Also, so people were talking about a solid guide rod helps reduce muzzle flip. I was wondering what your guys' opinions were on this. From the looks of it, it just adds extra weight.

1) Look at blackhawks holster line. They have several models for use with lights. Dont expect many concealed carry holsters to accomodate though.

2) A solid guide rod will add some weight to the front end, and muzzle end weight will help some with muzzle flip. I dont know how much it would in this case, but the physics are there.

3) I like the .45, waiting to see if they come out with one of the M's in .45, otherwise ill just end up getting another XD 45 Compact.

My insane voices are remembering something about a .45acp in the works... but I'm horribly sleep deprived.

I don't have my CCW, so the holster doesn't have to be concealable. I prefer open carrying anyways.

If a solid guide rod is only good for added weight, I don't think I'll bother. The light is heavier than the rod anyways.

I saw on other boards that there's a rumor of an (M) coming out in .45, but the dates of those posts were half a year old. I wouldn't doubt it though. I see no reason why they couldn't make an (M) in .45

I bet they'll hold off on a 45 XDm, unless all the tooling is done. I'd expect a return of the 10 round mag limits.

I took the XD(M) out shooting yesterday. I don't know the exact range, but it was somewhere around 35-40 meters. I was dancing the shots around a mini tin of popcorn (the kind they sell around Christmas time). It was interesting when I would hit the little tin, popcorn would come flying out. :D
It was also my first time shooting it with the light attached. The extra weight helped out a little with the muzzle flip, but not much. It is still pretty fierce. The front 'lens' part of the light also has a lot of gun powder on it now too. I'll have to come up with some way to prevent that.

You know what they (experts) say about the .40? "It's almost as good as the .45."

LOL

We all know it's shot placement.

I ordered this the day after xmas (they said it would be a month, I knew they were full of crap) and it came in 21 March. FINALLY!!

Im doing my part to "go green" so here she is. I fired her in my back yard for a few mags and loved it. My first pistol and it is freakin' sweet. I didnt like how the holster was loose but then discovered the allen wrench that comes with it is for a small nut that tightens a small screw near the trigger guard and locks it like a Serpa holster.

Aha! Very nice.
If you decide to put a light on it (I did) and need a holster, here's one that fits
perfectly: (the UBH-SP5)

http://www.wwlholsters.com/order-now-2.asp?manufacturer=SpecialtySetup&style=auto&model=SP5&size=UBH-SP5

I have the nylon paddle holster.
For a full-sized gun with light past the end of the barrel (the TLR-1 (which is awesome) goes past end of the barrel).
The only thing that I still have to change is that they have some female velcro (the one with the loops) on the inside where the front sight slides along and if I try to quickly pull the gun out of the holster, it snags on it. I was just going to get a male strip (the one with the hooks) of velcro and put it on top of it so it'll ride smooth along it.
Oh, also the wings on it (the padde) are really wide, but I just used a dremel to remove them/make them thinner.
