Buddy called yesterday taunting me about a gun show up by Wausau yesterday. He was up in the area to get some work done on his car and just happened to see signs so he thought he'd check it out. Said it was pretty cool, and he was about to buy something he thinks, but wouldn't tell me because I'd probably come buy it out from under him (pretty safe bet on his part it turned out).
He swung by after getting back in town to show it off, a Polish .22lr training rifle that looks and feels like a Mosin Nagant, pretty sweet little thing, and he got a decent price. I'm looking forward to shooting it too. Hehe.
Anyway, I went up there today, pretty decent, lots of cool stuff way out of my budget, but I did pick up a stripped lower, DPMS for $180ish after tax and whatnot. Bonus cool points for being from St. Cloud MN, that's were the company I was overseas with is stationed.
Apparently the state(?) changed some legislation like this week, or it may have been part of that ATF ruling regarding parts and part sales, but I had to fill out a pistol form on it, just in case I wanted to build it as a pistol. While this is convenient, it means they can no longer sell stripped lowers to anybody under 21. There was no waiting period, but I can see it hurting their sales a little, and it is just annoying enough. Thought that was kind of weird.
On the other hand I can build it up as a pistol if I ever feel the need to.
Anyway, thought I'd throw a couple pics up just for the hell of it, and go figure, Trixie had to be in there too, so you get to kitties for the price of one, a Panther and a little doll-faced Persian.

Your cat looks very comfy.

I know nothing about pricing for ARs; how much is it to get all the parts for a complete lower after you get the stripped one?

I'm looking at a Del-ton midlength kit, everything minus lower, for around $550 after a couple upgrades. http://www.del-ton.com/Rifle_Kit_p/rkt104.htm
Slowly I'll be adding rails and other assorted Magpul goodies to it. Gonna be my catch-all carbine, hopefully good enough if I want to do any competitions or anything. I love my A2, but it's too much rifle for an active carbine type of style.
