Got this RC S code from IO a couple of months ago for $229. It's a 1937 S/147 J.P. Sauer und Sohn. I was happy with it. Cleaned up good.

Nice Rampager. Didn't IO advertise those with some excessories?

Yeah it came with some repro capture screws and was suppose to come with a cleaning rod. I didn't get the rod with the gun (that's why it's not pictured with one) and had to email them about it. They sent me one ASAP though which was good.

They also sent me a cleaning chain and a brass oil can. Oh and they sent me two slings...unforunately neither were for any K98 variant. I think they were PPh41 slings...not sure. Funny the add says they come with a sling...yeah a sling, just not a K98 sling :p . Still was a good deal though.

I see. That seems kind a poor on their part, but if the rifle is nice, than that is all that matters.

I got a 1939 RC last year from Classic Arms. Does yours have the waffen stamps on it? Some rifles have them defaced.

Yeah mine still has them, but they are the older style bird without the swastika.

Weimer eagles Rampager, as opposed to Waffenamts.

Thanks Tanker, couldn't think of the name they were called.

Thats it, a Weimer eagle. It and the waffenamt are the same thing. They are just ordnance acceptance codes saying it met standards during production.

"J.P. Sauer und Sohn"

Sauer is one of my family names on the "Kraut" side of the family tree. Its kinda like the "Smith" or "Jones" of certain areas of germany.

Sauerland: The Sauerland is a rural, hilly area spreading across most of the east of North Rhine-Westphalia, heavily forested and sparsely inhabited.

I got one of these in a trade....then three from Classic Arms and three from Interordnance.

The Classic Arms ones were more expensive...and were in better condition. I picked them from their descriptions on the website.

The Interordnance ones were less expensive....but it was whatever three the warehouseman picked out of the crate. Less quality in condition.....and one was pinged! I sent the pinged one back....and entered into a range war with IO over their refusal to honor their statement to me that they would cover the return shipping....which they conveniently refused to do AFTER I returned it...I ended up with store credit.....which I used to buy a P38. They got to me I'd say...

Anyway.....I wiped them all down with CLP, and stuck them in the back of the safe. I occasionally shoot one...but not too frequently..I sure like them never the less!!

I'm not quite sure if I want to remove the shellac.....................
