I have several questions

1. are these kits worth buying (already bought a couple, i want one for each of my kids since in the future they may never get to have one)

2. does anyone know of anyone on this site that might make receiver blanks for welding in for repairs.

3. would it be easier to convert to a non milled receiver

I just noticed APEX has come through with the receivers but you have to buy from an outside source.

If i was to buy the repair parts, would this be legal or would i still need to change so many parts to be compliant

No way .I cant beleive the price . Much more expensive than I ever thought . The problem with building on a stamped receiver is the lack of trunions ,wich you would have to buy and the fact that m64's have threaded barrels wich would have to be milled down . The cheapest way to go is a reweld .I would pay to have it done . This guy does great work reasonably . And yes you have to buy compliance parts .

Send turbothis a message about doing a reweld on them. He does excellent work and you will not need to buy the receiver filler piece, he makes his own. You will need to buy US parts for them as well. K-var has US trigger groups on sale right now at a decent price.

Yep, Turbo does them...vz58 at gunco makes repair plates I believe...Wise Lite Arms is the one apex has listed, but pricey there.

Using the repair section or a new milled receiver you need one less comp part because there is no trunnion involved.

Those repair sections are expensive but hell now days everything that has anything to do with guns is expensive. There have been some people who have milled down or ground and filed down the receiver stubs until they were roughly the shape of trunnions and then either welded them into a sheet metal receivers or drilled and riveted them in. I've seen several examples of this on the web. Personally I think that a reweld is the way I'd go with one of these, and I get somebody that knew what they were doing to do it. Matt at the previously posted link is as good a choice as anyone I can think of to do one. If I had one, I'd send it to him to do.
The good new is that compliance parts are plentiful and fairly inexpensive. Some places sell them in numbered groups, like this place http://dpharms.com/6-piece-us-compliance-package-p-229.html
$60.00 for 6 parts. Then if you had some US made magazines you'd have 3 more parts for each one.
