colorado sales has two flat receivers. One for a m70AB receiver and the other for ak47/ ak74.
what is the difference besides the underfolding stock.
is that all the extra holes are for.
there is quit the difference in price.
whom makes the best flats and best rivet kits?
thanks in advance

The M70AB2 flat is for the yugoslavian underfolding AK variant (aka the M70ab2). AFAIK, it is not advised that you use this one with other AK kits besides the M70ab2 kits, such as the Romanians, Polish, etc.
Yes, it has "more holes" (than a fixed stock version) for the underfolder stock assembly. Also, IIRC, the sheet metal is 50% thicker, and it is designed to accommodate the larger front trunion of the Yugoslavian AK variants.

hunter_la5,
You are correct.
The receiver for the yugo underfolder is 1.5mm and standard AK receiver is 1.0mm.
The yugo has a "bulge" on the front for the trunnion.
I have liked the ak builder's rivets and as for the flats,I have not fornd any differences except those that are marked as blemished.

my intention was to mill down the trunnions from a yugo M64 to place inside a bent up receiver. Is this a bad idea. Ive seen it done a few times, but not sure if its recommended. If you think its ok what receiver would you suggest.
or spend the money and have the milled receiver repaired.

I would buy the repair plates from VZ58 (member on akforum) or a prebent blank from bentmetal and weld in a repair section to make everything happy again. It is a bunch of work regardless. turbothis does excellent work with the milled receiver kits. He has given many of them new life. Send him a PM.

i did a wled up kit liek you are talkign about, ground down the trunnion to slide inside the receiver, and welded where the rivets go, and drilled some new holes as well, had to custom do each rail while the trunnion was dry fit in the receiver. overall super easy since i didnt have to pull the barrel or anything like that.

The way I was talking about doing it was butt welding a section in between the receiver stubs. Either using repair plates or a section out of one of the thicker bentmetal blanks. There are way more crude ways to build on a milled kit though. I watched a video years back where a guy used various pieces of steel and screws and built a receiver. It was the crudest most cobbled looking contraption I ever seen, but it went bang and held up.

oh wow!
thats all i have to say, except do you have any pics?
yeah i have seen the repair kit on apex but i was unaware that the vz58 ones would work on an ak. i did but weld the rear trunnion because i didnt mant to mess with the stock, because honestly i played with taking it apart and couldnt figure it out.

VZ58 (screen name on AKforum and gunco) is the person who makes repair plates. I have not done any rewelds yet myself but have researched different methods used.
