I happened to pick up 500 rounds of wolf .308 this morning for $150. Odd thing, the box is marked 7.62x51mm. Anyone ever seen Wolfs' .308 marked with that?

Yeah, i wouldn't care if it were 762 or 308 at that point...

Thoughts on their marking this as 7.62x51?

I've shot it before out of my Cetme and FAL with no issues or damaged cases. It gets pretty sloppy after about 250 yards tho. It's the typical steel cased wolf crap. It was originally $188 from SG, however with the member discount, SG card discount, and frequent shooter bucks it came to $151 shipped.

what is all this about the frequent shooter bucks??? I've ordered from SG for years and have never heard of this. I have posted some SG coupons under the non forum deals in the past for other members to use.

If you use their Visa you get "cash back" in the form of discout #s. You get the 1st discount for being a club member (if you are one). Then you can lump in the usual 10 bucks off code everyone has. You get another discount for using their (SG) visa as well. Once you spend so much, you get a code for so much off (usually 10 bucks for every 100 spent or something like that). I call that "frequent shooter" bucks. Add all of those together and it makes for some really sweet deals.

7.62x51 is the NATO version of .308. Actually .308 is the civilian version of NATO ammo. What ever, it is different ammo. It can't be .308 and 7.62x51 at the same time. Some military rifles have larger chambers and .308 loads have thinner brass than 7.62 and may split open in the chamber when fired.

I got the same thing. Can you measure up a case and see if its shoulder is different? I just tried but my caliper won't work. It doesn't say Nato though.

I think they may have started markign this stuff 7.62x51 to push it (although in the current market there's no need for that). I'll see if I can get a caliper and see what it measures in at. I have fired this stuff through the cetme before with no problems, but it was never marked as 7.62x51 before. Wonder if they changed the case dimensiosn on us?
