Everybody, The gunsmith I work for part time is planning and working on converting a .30 carbine to 5.7X28. I ordered the barrel yesterday. I'll keep all of you in loop about it.
Also the paperwork has been started for the importing of some ammo for Isreal
in the following 5.56,7.62X51 and7.62X39 at least 60,000rds per. If the paperwork gets approved and 10 seconds after it's in our shop. I'll put out the thread to everyone here to make sure Militaryfirearm gets first pick!! I'll keep everyone posted.
Thanks

Do you mean importing ammo from Isreal?
That will be an interesting carbine.

Yes from Israel. Another possible source is Serbia but that is up in the air right now. Not sure if importing for there is allowed or not.

As to the conversion of the 30 carbine to 5.7X28. the original will still be used after minor mods to it. the rest is barrel, breach face and fine tuning.

Guess the idea of the 5.7 in a carbine was done once but never caught on, as you can get 5.7 barrels and chamber reemer for the old 5.7 johnson wildcat from gunparts. Is that the barrel you guys are going to start with or are you going to use a custom made barrel?

We have blank barrels for the conversion. If you have a5.7 Johnson wildcat barrel we can do it for you but it will require the chamber to be reamed and recut.

I'd be in fer a thou, if it ran aroud 30cents per rd.
I dunno if that makes me cheap, frugal, or nostalgic...or all 3 ;)
