I have to apologize as this is the only shrunk size of Brady Grades for the states I could find. Since this was put out, more states have gone from a grade of C to almost failing with a grade of D or worse.

Notice the difference in the violent crime rate and murder rate between Maryland (Extremely antigun) and Idaho (very progun, concealed carry, etc).

Yes sir, that gun control sure does work! Only in Idaho, it means hitting what you are aiming at with the first shot.:icon_mrgreen:

The fact that New Jersey and California are at the top end of this, pretty much tell me the validity of this report. ...I've always heard what a nice, safe place South Central L.A. was. I might look into a timeshare.

Regardless of what kind of controls they put in place, you're still relying on the people to play by the rules. Do criminals play by the rules?

Aw, only a D+ for Michigan? I was hoping for us to score at least a D- and with high hopes, an F. What Brady calls bad, I call good.

i am very confused here. what is this rating system?

cimmaronkid
04-16-2007, 10:55 PM
The rating system is based on the legislation of firearms control within a given state. That is, the more hoops you have to jump through and the more restrictions placed on you by the state's draconian gun laws the higher the grade.

However, as anyone can see by the statistics placed before them which were gathered by the Brady Coalition, those states with more gun laws had a higher percentage of violent crime while those with less restrictive laws had a lower percentage.

And who says Gun Control doesn't work! Just ask any professional criminal.:icon_eek:

Cimmaronkid, Alaska now gets a F+, and DC which got B, mainly due to the fact that congress can repel its local gun laws. Interesting how its highly subjective too, If you go to the website, states getting D vs B are really subject to what the brady folks thihnk about the state.

Heres a link if you want to read what they think about where you live

Virginia got a c- what a bunch of bullwash and hog $4|+

I will personally strive to do better (worse) next year.

Oddly, I think that the Virginia gunlaws are very fair, my only gripe is no CCW in an establishment that serves alcohol. If I carry I'm not drinking, but if I choose to goto a nice restraunt my choices are 1)leave the gun "unsecured" in the vehicle 2)leave the gun at home 3) <b>Open Carry</b> which draws unwanted attention.

What do all of the numbers in the string of data mean. Please pick one state and explain each item in the string of numbers so I can understand.

How the HELL does NC get a C???? I have to write my congressman and tell him to strive for failure. They seem to have no problem not getting things done all the time.

I'm proud of that score! :worthy:

In other news, apparently it is now illegal in IN to carry with CCW in a school zone...it does not speceifically say whether or not that applies to colleges now...I'll need to research.

I love IN for the gunshows and lack of BS gulaws. I can do a FTF with anyone, any time, from any place in the US to cash-n-carry a long arm. If we could just drop a one more criteria I'm confident we could get an F.

Too darn MANY Kalyphoniuns and Nu Yawkers in Las Vegas, or we'd have had an F---- for sure. One county over the people carry on their hips in the court house and city hall. No problems.

I need to move back! Iowa C+ and Texas D-! Iowa needs to get real and Texas is almost the best! I remember gun racks with loaded guns and loaded pistols on the dash were legal 25 years ago in Texas!

Glad to see PA got a D+...wish it was an F- though.

There is an anti-gun (registration) bill pending in PA right now.

From what I've read the reps are getting an earful from a lot of gun owners about it so I don't think it'll fly. I just signed a petition against the bill yesterday at work.

I don't know anywhere you can without an expensive and extensive licensing paperwork nightmare.

Are you saying that you can't even with BATFE required paperwork and licensing?
