1896 Broomhandle Mauser - all matching except the aftermarket stock... before anyone says anything - it was an all matching 30 mauser with a nearly perfect bore when I picked it up in the early 90's, the exterior finish didn't look that great so (like an idiot) I had the thing restored in 96 by a company called Mentor arms (don't exist anymore)... should have left it original didn't think about those types of things then.

Nice looking gun. I won't yell about the refinishing ( ;) ), we all live and learn.

I think it looks great, you are lucky to have it. Don't worry about refinishing it, If you are not planing on selling it who cares. You have a great looking pistol, that everybody who likes handguns wants..

Sweet
I just had mine C96 relined to 7.63 and it shoots great now
It was a parts gun 1926 transitional so I didn't undermine the collector value in any case.

Saw some of these at a gun show this weekend and saw that prices were not way out of whack. Started reading up and I'm really liking the idea of getting one. But thats gonna be down the road a ways. Whats favorable on these and whats the word on the stock with the pistol? Is that something that is grandfathered out??

It looks nice.:thumbup:The shoulder stock looks great. Where did you find it and is it German?
I always wanted one myself and wish I had bought one of Bulgarian mis-matched parts pistols back when you get them. Those were companies like Mentor Arms bread and butter.
