The OBAMA NATION is no longer allowing the sale of once fired Military (nato spec) brass 7.62 (308) and 5.56 (223) - contractors who purchase wholsale from the military cannot sell to civilians. The once fired brass will be sold as scrap - yes it has started..... so for those of us who reload, we're going to pay more for NATO spec brass. hold on to your NATO brass if you reload! If not, post it on this board for sale.....
Anyway, what commercial 308 do you shoot through your CETME with good results (I just purchased a case extractor since I'm anticipating broken cases, but want to minimize the frustration associated with commercial brass)?
In Struggle, Raul.

Winchester White Box that is labeled 7.62 Nato, when I can find it. I'm starting to think they've stopped making it.

I have heard that Winchester White Box NATO is a seasonal item. That Winchester will do a run of the ammo once a year or so and that's it.
I have shot Silver and Brown Bear, also some Federal hunting rounds.

It boils down to that the decision to destroy brass was a CYA move by some new .gov bureaucrat and the decision has been reversed.
USG brass is still GTG!

Still, even if I did believe the cover story I'll still keep an eye on them. I think this is just a probe of our defenses and anticipate more attacks to come that will also be described as a CYA bureaucrat screw up or some such thing if we protest loud enough in large enough numbers to make them back down.
But then I'm just paranoid...

Federal also makes a Nato spec 7.62x51, I saw it in a CTD catalog I got today, more expensive than Winchester, nearly $20.00 a box!

The Dems wanna do it, but the new Prez is a little squeamish about pissing that many people off and well... Who can blame him? Maybe he realized that HE lives and thrives by the people's good graces, and not the other way around.
