Have a 1903A3 with a Jan. 44 Remington barrel and "Santa Fe" reciever. Great condition, great shooter. I think I read somewhere that these were refinished at some point hence the "Santa Fe" markings. What got me curious was I was reading on the WTB listings and someone was looking for a 1903 and they said "will even take a Santa Fe". Makes me think that somehow these are of lower quality than others. Any thoughts?

Doc I found this at a 1903 site.

In the 1950s, M1903A3 receivers were fairly scarce while parts were very common. As a result a couple of commercial firms started producing cast steel replicas of M1903A3 receivers and attaching them to GI parts. Yours is one of these. The others are the more-commonly seen National Ordnance and also that marked Golden State.

Although they are not collectable, they are supposed to be good shooters. They were not used by the military
