I have been checking out some 45 acp AR conversions. I think it would be cool to have one as a companion gun for my gold cup. I looked at one of those Marlin camp guns which is kinda neat because it takes 1911 mags. But unless you use a mag two feet long or one of those drums that look like they would break off, they just don't have much capacity. Olympic makes an AR conv. that uses a 45 Uzi mag with a funky block welded on to it. They say that they are out of mags and don't expect any soon.
I ran in to a guy at Knob Creek, Mack Gwinn owner of MGI out of Maine. They are fixing to come out with a lower that has a quick change barrel and a quick change mag well. None of this is real new but they are going to offer a 45 acp conv. that uses M3 Grease gun mags. These are not that hard to come by and I already have a bunch for my Mac 10's. They are going to have quite a few calibers for this thing. AK mag wells and uppers, M14 308,6.8, Beo Wolf and all the normal ones. But one that sounded real interisting to me was the 6.5 carcano. This round fits perfectly in the M14 mags. And the case is just a hair smaller than a 6.5 X 55 which is a hell of a long range cartridge. The new 6.5 match bullets are what a lot of the 1000 yrd. guys are going to.
