Tantal

I am thinking about getting a Tantal, what are your thoughts on them?

They are great guns, and one of the few that are currently available in 5.45x39. Some of the Century imports, however, were assembled with 5.56 barrels and keyhole miserably. They have since corrected the problem, so try for a new one. There is one seller on gunbroker that checks all of his Tantals, though, so his should be safe. He details his checks in the auctions. I have seen several. I have a Saiga 7.62x39 that I converted, but had though og getting a 5.45 too, if I could afford it. The Tantal or a Bulgarian would be my choice.

What twist should I be looking for, 1 in7 or 1 in 9

I have a century that got lucky:) It's a 1:9 twist. I have heard you want to look for anything serialed after #3500. I was very worried about mine b/c I didn't do any research assuming anything CAI could do, I could fix, The barrel though is an end all. Either replace or live with it. I would buy a few rounds and do a quick check by unscrewing the muzzle break and inserting the round upside down. I have a good reading with both surplus and Wolf. The surplus does sink a little farther though so I would do the test with that. If you need a round I can get that to you via mail if you PM me.

If you search the internets you'll find a huge amount of repeated jargon. A few honest accounts and a few trials and tribulations. If you can get one go with Atlantic. Otherwise get a Century cautiously. Good luck

I have Century and have had no problems(Only 120 rnd through it right now though.)

the interarms are the truth.
after reading all the grief over the century's, there's no way in hell i would shove the green over for one. cause they are also not helping with them. in other words get a bad one, and it's all you, the warrenty expires as soon as your check clears their bank.
