I have bought parts from overseas, but never thought about shipping something.
Anyone know what is involved to ship a gun stock set? I would assume that customs leaving won't be much of an issue, but I guess I need to verify the destination laws of the country it is bound for..
Anyhow, anyone with experience please chime in! :thanks:

Well, I found this on the UPS sight; no mention of parts, just:
The following articles are not accepted for transportation by UPS to countries outside the United States:
Animal products, nondomesticated
Cash
Corpses
FirearmsI also checked the restrictions for the country I am shipping to (Spain) and there aren't any for firearms parts.
Guess when I get home tomorrow I will make some phone calls.

My freight forwarder guy at work recommended not labeling them as "gun parts", but maybe "model parts, for display purposes"

I know when I have shipped to Canada, you have to declare what it is and country of origin.

Are these parts something you would have to ship to an FFL in the US? If not, they are not firearms just parts that could be for display, scrap, or any number of other things.

I would also lable them very carefully Bolt, Striker, wooden grip, plastic grip etc..

No FFL parts, just a stock set for a G3. But still "firearms" parts and that is a touchy subject when shipping international, either direction.

I think your ok with a stock set. There are however very specific laws about exporting gun parts. For example, I had a new CETME barrel on gunbroker. A guy from Spain asked if he could bid on it. After several hours of searching, I found I would have needed an arms export license to leagally do it. Barrels were specifically called out in the US code.

Laws vary from country to country as to what parts you can just ship and what needs to be exported. Stock sets are not a problem to any countries that I know of. You will have to fill out a customs decleration form, however. Ask ahead of time before you ship how they should be labeled as sometimes taxes on their end enter into the picture and can be avoided by the destription.
I send a lot of rings and bases to Australia for a friend that has a small shop. If I declare them as scope rings and bases, he gets hit with a type of vat tax or something like that. If I label them as optical equipment parts, there is no tax.
