Sorry its taken me so long to get these posted but its been a hectic week to say the least.

Man this thing is was lousy with cosmo. It took me the better part of the weekend to get the majority of it cleaned out. About the only thing I have left to clean now is the barrel but the rifling looks strong and theres no obvious rust. (attached pics 1 & 2)

The bolt face actualy appears to be in really good shape too which suprised me. I had to let it soak in brake cleaner over night to get all the crap out of it and then get to getting rid of the last bit of cosmo down in the bolt body. (really blurry pic 3)

The wire wrapping is in overall good condition but the solder has broken free in a few spots on the rear wrap so its a bit loose. I may resolder it, I may not. Not sure yet. It cleaned up real nice though. (pics 4 & 5)

There was one scary point early on though. I was taking the front barrel band off and it bent in half. Okay, NOW I know that it is hinged. My heart skipped a beat on that one. Needless to say I took disassembly MUCH slower after that.

The only two things which I found obviously wrong with it are managable and easily repaired. First, a small amount of the wood rotted under the front of the trigger guard (where the front screw is). I'l fix this with bedding compound after everything else is done. The other problem was the safety spring was broken and held together with a generous helping of cosmoline. It pretty much fell apart when I unscrewed it to clean the safety components.

Finally, almost more important the new Enfield... my suprise purchase... a nearly full case of Aussie 7.62x51. He has another full case which I will be picking up in a week or so. YAY!!!!!!!

I'm a bit jealous on the ADI...hope you got a great deal on it! I have the 200rnds in bandoliers and strippers that they used for their FALs.

As to the wire wrap...iszzat standard for these rifles?

I picked up the near full case of ADI for only $125... yep. That's right. $125 for it. He's asking $150 for the full case. With the two new cases of Aussie and the case of Aussie I still have, it looks like the Cetmes will be thundering this season.

The wire wrapping is normal on these. It's a 1962 Indian No1 Mk3 and the wire wraps were intended to reinforce the stock so it could shoot grenades. The upper wire wrap is tight, no breaks in the solder and cleaned up nice. The rearward wrap is in worse shape. Some of the solder on the middle copper wire broke which is allowing it to spread out a little bit. Probably no more than half an inch or spread over all. The left and right of the rearward wrap is heavily soldered, hence the 3/4" silver colored bands. This is the solder I may repair.

It was picture day. Actually I like to keep as clean of a work bench as possible. It was admittedly a pig sty while I was cleaning the bastage up.

Nice job on the grenade launching Enfield and by the way that is an A 1 clean work bench.

I have tried to keep mine clean but can't. I actually need a couple different benches. Someday I will have an actuall Den for the reloading and gun cleaning. Then my work bench can be just a work bench.
