Is there a right or wrong way to install the hk type scope mount? can't seem to get a real tight fit on my stamped cetme

I was interested in that myself. In doing research I have been hesitant to go with any one scope mount since I don’t know if they really fit the CETME. Which ones do fit the CETME “out of the box”? Or is there an element of modification with any of the options? I was looking at some of the clamp type mounts figuring that would be easier (less mod). I read somewhere that they don’t fit properly (too tight) and you may risk breaking your spiffy new mount if you try too hard...

With some research, you will find that the century stamped receiver is slightly out of specification, proably due to the fact it was reverse engineered rather than built by licence from hk or cetme. Thus there are lots of fitting problems especally with the claw mounts. The cast receiver are within spec and seem to fit the scope mounts better from what is posted on this board and the old board.

I recently purchased this scope mount and put it on my CETME, which has a stamped receiver:
http://www.combathunting.com/H_K-H_K_Claw_Mount_with_Double_Picatinny_Rails_MP5_G3. html
This mount has one main screw that tightens the claws that wrap around the top of the receiver. It also has two set screws that that tighten against the top of the receiver, making the mount very secure. I took my rifle to the range to sight-in the scope and had no problems whatsoever with the mount moving around. This mount also has stanag dimensions in addition to standard pitcanny rails just in case you have a stanag scope like I do. All in all, I've been very pleased with this mount and would definitely recommend it. If you do decide to get it from combathunting.com, be advised that their service was rather sluggish.

Thanks for the recommendation. I am glad to know that that mount fits a CETME without any/serious modification. I was worried because almost 9 out of 10 of the places that I looked were airsoft sites…and I am just not sure if that stuff does the trick…

tell you what, i got a made in china version of the stanag claw mount, its not the ultra lightweight steel, but it was worth it. goes right on, its a bit tight but it deosnt seem to affect anything. and it pops right off. its also suprisingly stable. also looks sweet as hell.
i payed about 90 bucks for it with the adaptor rail at a gunshow, whitch is pricey for me, but its worth it. considering the design.
had it been tight i wouldnt have thought twice about taking the dremel to it.

If you have stamped receiver Cetme and a claw mount, you are going to find out what all of us already have...it won't work. By 10 rounds, you will notice the mount has slide and ruined your finish and can't be zeroed.
Your stamped receiver is out of spec and is missing the locking pad that scope needs to prevent movement.
If its too tight, it will crush the receiver and your bolt will get hung up.
Trust us guys, we have been helping Cetme owners for 4 or 5 years. Tapco used a make a SWAT mount that everyone had luck with on the stamped Cetme. B-Square mounts seem to work also.

my cia receiver has two bumps on the upper part, are those to position the mount?

The cast SS receiver on mine was not in spec for the standard claw mount.
I followed the directions Perro had posted and cut the saddle and front pad
flush with the top of the receiver. In addition , I had to remove a bit off of
the bottom of the four lugs that the claw mount locks under.
I did not alter the claw mount at all.
I would have if IT had Century Arms, Monkeyville, VT stamped on it but it didn't.
It is now a firm, finger pressure lock down and it stays put. I tried another HK mount on it and it fits exactly the same.

If you are talking about a saddle on top of the receiver, yes and that means you have a cast receiver. The stamped received does not have the saddle to position the mount, only the 4 feet to hold the scope.

the bumps I was talking about must be the four feet the claw is supposed to clamp under, right?

those bumps ARE for a scope mount yes...
BUT thre is also supposed to be a "saddle" in front of the rear sight that keeps the mount from sliding fore and aft. The cast models have this saddle, and the HK, and good HK clones have it as well... Century stamped models do not, and wont keep a mount still without it.
for a scope mount on a stamped receiver, the best bet is probably the "ultimate scope mount" search for that, and find the thread...

I cleaned up the width of my stainless receiver on all four mounting points and my HK scope mount is unadulterated as well. Now, everything fits! Your choice!
