Just received an OD green "plastic" G3 stock set for my SS CETME. Have already ground down the nylon retaining ring on the recoil spring guide rod.
The G3 stock bracket (parked part that attaches to the receiver) seems to be just a tad too small in it's inside diameter to slide onto the receiver.
Can anyone give me some pointers? Would greatly appreciate the help:thumbup:
Thanks!

If you mean the holes don't exactly line up to put the pins in then the problem is probably the metal buffer inside the back plate hitting the back of the receiver. If so, then you can disassemble the stock assembly and remove a little metal from the buffer and eliminate the interference.

Never had that problem with mine? I can slip em on and off fairly easily.

The one on mine is a little tighter, but it fits if you shove it on.

Thanks for the post, but that is not my problem I'll try to explain it a little better. The metal part of the G3 stock that slides onto the receiver of my CETME is too small to fit over the end of my CETME receiver.
I am aware that the stainless steel receivers have been said to be out of "spec" so I guess it could be that the receiver end is too wide to allow the butt stock to slide on. On the other hand maybe the butt stock metal portion has been bent in just a bit so that it won't fit over the end of the receiver.:icon_question::wallbash:
Has anyone put the G3 set on an early manufacture stainless CETME?

Otis61, Is your CETME a stainless model by any chance?

I would try a different one before I did anything else. They should fit.

My be you can spred the metal on the G3 stock to fit.

I would recmend to spread the stock piece just little by little until it fits,
I had a simular problem but I had a stamped receiver Cetme, and I had to put in vise and adjust the receiver and stock just a little and I got it to fit perfect.
Good luck!

I've seen some tight some not. They are cheap so I would take a fine flat file and take off a bit of the inside of the stock bracket. DONN'T TOUCH YOUR RECIEVER!!!:nonono:(I had to say that as a dissclaimer because well SOME people would.) Do little at a time and fit til you can hand install/remove it. You should not have to hammer a stock on or off.

You can put the metal stock over the vice jaws and open the vice to spred the metal on the G3 stock. if you have a small vice.

Excellent tip. Thanks! I'll give it a go this weekend.
P.S.
I still have my '82 320i that I bought new in '82. It only has 18K miles on it. Never been driven in the rain. Nuttin' like yours, but it's still a classic.

May I ask how to get my wooden stock off of the guide rod and back plate? so I can refinish the buttstock?
Thanks,

There is a bolt through the buttsotck into the buffer assembly that needs to be removed along with the screw(s) from the front of the buffer assembly, then the buttstock can be removed.

Thank you kind sir. So it must come off kind of like my Enfield's butt. With a big ass screwdriver! LOL
