Iraq war is 'lost': US Democrat leader

http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=070419184534.ileoeb47&show_article=1
--------------
The war in Iraq "is lost" and a US troop surge is failing to bring peace to the country, the leader of the Democratic majority in the US Congress, Harry Reid, said Thursday.
"I believe ... that this war is lost, and this surge is not accomplishing anything, as is shown by the extreme violence in Iraq this week," Reid told journalists:wtfflag:
----------------

Gee, you don't think the 'extreme violence' has been going on sporadically for a while now?

As Napoleon Dynamite would say:
"Ihhdiots!"

Bush quote from the article:
"A lesson learned was that ... in order to protect us, we must aggressively pursue the enemy and defeat them elsewhere so that we do not have to face them here."

That pretty much effing sums it up. If it keeps skyscrapers standing over here, we need to do stuff over there.

That's straight-shootin' wisdom you can get from any VFW.

Yet another development that makes this whole thing look like Vietnam 2.0. Military not allowed to interdict the enemy where he gathers/plans/cache's weapons (mosques), not hitting the area responsible for manufacturing and funding the enemy (Iran), and liberal media/politicians trying to erode American confidence and support. :icon_cry:

And THEY NEVER HAVE TO!

Take the Democrats, bleeding heart liberals, and the news media and let them go over and fight and let's see if they could do better! I think they should shut up and git on the band wagon so it could be done with instead of criticising (did I spell that correctly)! Just my X Marine Helo Gunner/Spec Op Opinion anyway! You cannot win if you just QUIT!:1087: If they had free travel/room/board and open hunting season I would go for some long range practice!

When is the American public going to realize that this is not the fault of the military but the fault of the politicians that will not allow the military to do their job. Total bull on the part of the liberals to always try and pass the buck but just wait when the fighting gets close to home and they will also be the first to condemn the military for not doing their job right in the first place.

As the Native Americans would say, "Liberal politician speaks with forked tounge."

you know Cimmaron, I wish someone would have asked that same question back in 1967....... and that they WOULD have realized...... then i'd still have my brother. I know that this conflict doesnt mirror Vietnam in every aspect, but the way that the damned politicians are trying to run things mirrirs it pretty well.... and it sucks...... those boys need all the support we can give em, regardless of what some friggin corrupt politician thinks.... theres a reason that the president is called the commander in chief, and nowhere that i've ever read says that congress has the same authority. overpaid underworked, corruptible self centered types like congressmen and senators have no business WHATSOEVER trying to dictate the conduct of warfare.......

That's because we play by the rules MOST OF THE TIME!
And THEY NEVER HAVE TO!

And that is why we are losing. You cannot win a war that you cannot fight. You cannot fight if the ROE are so restricted that you have to watch the bad guy slip away without engagement. We need commanders on the ground that can make decisions and get the job done with no repercussions. For Christ sake, they are trained and paid to do the job, let them do it. If not bring them home and call it a day. They will be needed to cordon off the area after the next attack and to sift through the rubble.

Heard this from a marine that got back recently. He said that he wasn't complete while he was there, his heart was in Iraq, but his asshole was in Washington. Hmmmm.

The democrat politicians know that they have no accountability for their actions. Something terrible happens they just shift the blame and get even more power. The war gets lost they blame it on others and get more power to pursue their own agenda. Then they can use it as a excuse for some really crazy laws. Sort of like how their gun free zones get so many killed and then they have another excuse for a gun ban.
Politicians need to be held to be held accountable for their own actions. No blame game nonsense. This whole making for disaster so they get more power stunt is sick. Its a simpleton con job. They claim to be people of peace, if people of war fail, people of peace win. Get to pass a whole bunch of crazy laws. Its nonsense thinking. The military is not people of war. There the ones with the job defending the country. Which means if war happens they take the hard job of defending America. Some guy burning the America flag is not a person of peace. See them burning the flags of the countries that fight us? See them talk a suicide bomber out of blowing up? There is no war people and peace people. Just those that do their job and then theres the backstabbers.
If the military was allowed to win this war, it would be over quickly.

Whatever happened to the old Democratic party (pre-1960's)? The one my Grand dad belonged too. Imagine if this attitude existed during WWII.

April 24, 2007 -- WASHINGTON - A tough U.S. Marine stationed in one of the most hostile areas of Iraq has a message for Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid: "We need to stay here and help rebuild."

In raw and emotional language from the bloody front lines, Cpl. Tyler Rock, of the 1st Battalion, 6th Marines, skewered Reid for being far removed from the patriotism and progress in Iraq.

"Yeah, and I got a quote for that [expletive] Harry Reid. These families need us here," Rock vented in an e-mail to Pat Dollard, a Hollywood agent-turned-war reporter who posted the comment on his Web site, www.patdollard.com.

"Obviously [Reid] has never been in Iraq. Or at least the area worth seeing . . . the parts where insurgency is rampant and the buildings are blown to pieces," Rock wrote.

Based in Camp Lejeune, N.C., Rock catalogued a series of grim daily traumas in Iraq, like getting covered in ash and sleeping under a dirty rug in an Iraqi family's house, or watching "several terrorists die" on the same strip of pavement.

But he says he is optimistic about the future of a country that he says has "turned to complete s- - -" during a bloody insurgency.

He also spoke admiringly of the risks brave Iraqi citizens take every day.

"If Iraq didn't want us here then why do we have [Iraqi police] volunteering every day to rebuild their cities?" he asked.

"It sucks that Iraqis have more patriotism for a country that has turned to complete s- - - more than the people in America who drink Starbucks every day.

"We could leave this place and say we are sorry to the terrorists. And then we could wait for 3,000 more American civilians to die before we say, 'Hey, that's not nice' again."

"And the sad thing is after we WIN this war. People like [Reid] will say he was there for us the whole time."

Rock's candid e-mail swept across the Internet after Dollard posted it on his site, and it was picked up by the Drudge Report and numerous other Web sites.

"What does [Reid] know about us 'losing' besides what he wants to believe? The truth is that we are pushing al Qaeda out and we are pushing the insurgency out. We are here to support a nation."

SEMPER FIDELIS indeed!
