Got my kit today. Took me a couple of hours to assemble it. Put the front detent pin in with the reciever and my head and shoulders in a BIG plastic bag after I launched it once.(amazed I found it!).

Other then that every thing went great, followed Knobbys tutorial. Thanks Knobby!

It's a Del-Ton A2 kit,the only option I added was the chrome lined barrel. Lower reciever is a Stag Arms.

Never been a big fan of ARs but I figured I had to have one at least .

Now my AKs won't even look at me.
Speaking of which, I should have my Yugo M90 done soon. I will have a shoot off between it and the AR.
(M90 is 5.56 also)

Also new forum rules, every time a part breaks on one of our AR builds we owe Perro a dollar. It will give him great satisfaction in his lonely hours, now that he is known as the man that walks and talks at midnight. :icon_biggrin:

Nice, k98

Yep, everybody who's been in the military should own one. Mine is stuffed into the very back of the safe, waiting for the availability of retrofit gas piston kits.

Something like this: http://www.globaltactical.com/axami/shop.php?grd=377&prd=378

I like shooting my AKs for thousands and rounds between cleanings, instead of taking the AR to the range and cleaning like the devil . . .

I can't wait for my lower to get here! I have everything but the lower and bolt carrier ass'y (coming with lower) for my A1 build.

Looks cool.

I need to shoot mine. I still haven't gotten a chance to since I changed the front sight block. A while back I got a Stag 16" upper and one of RRA's collapsible stocks, leaving me with an unused upper and stock. To solve this problem last weekend I bought a complete Double Star lower for my old upper and stock. The DS collapsible stock isn't that nice, but I was going to change it out anyways. So now I have a A1/A2 hybrid and a poorly color coordinated M4gery.

But I don't have as many spare parts anymore.

How long of a barrel does that M90 come with to compare with the AR, I think the ar has an advantage to longer barrel length for sure, thus k98k792 you need to get a 16" upper to really compare right. Or will the AR's really not talk to you then. :)

I might take out the .556 ak out this weekend to see how it shoots, I might have to break out a ar to compare it to, and maybe even bring out the Mini-14 too now that you have inspired me.

Woodman,we are waiting on those pics for quite awhile! Also I hear you have some kind of AK? :744:

Nalioth, the gas piston upper would change ONE of the problems with the AR. LOL!

Amd,can't wait to see your A1

Simon post some pics dude!

Okie, the M90 has a 18 inch barrel 1 in 9 twist, chrome lined. So it is not giving up all that much to the AR.

Weasel master think of the phrase 10 lbs of sh!! in a five lb bag!

Also thanks to Tanker for some good advice!

I know you have a list parts breakages for AR's, and I respect your opinion, but the two I owned were trouble free. One was a parts kit build A1 shorty, the other was a Bushmaster 20 inch heavy barrel A2. Of the two, I wish I still had the shorty, as it was consistantly more accurate than the A2. I traded the shorty straight for the Bushmaster after the AWB started because I bought into the heavy barrel, 1 in 9 twist hype.
I will be very interested to see how my 20 inch A1 barrel performs. The first centerfire rifle I ever fired was an M16A1 at the small arms firing school at Camp Perry, and I did very good with it, compared to the oh so experienced loudmouths who were shooting around me.

Changed out the PG for a Hogue today,

Just looking at the M90 Okie,I misread it, 1 in 7 twist.

AMD what reciever and bolt carrier did you decide to go with?
