View Full Version : 223 wylde ?
what is it can 5.56 be shot in it or is it a tighter chamber.:)
This is just heresay form a reilable source.
But the wylde chamber is not as tight as a .223 but not as loose as a 5.56.
Its inbetween and suposidly safe for 5.56 nato.

right on the money and perfectly safe to shoot either round. I myself, find it just as easy to just purchase a barrel marked 5.556 and rest easier at night.

I went 1:9 with my first AR. I just plink with barnaul ammo and it's been fine. I've been debating between a 1:8 or 1:9 with the varmint upper though.

I guess the new SDM-R (Squad Designated Marksmen Rifle) that's supposed to be making it way around the Army has a 1:8 stainless barrel(painted black of course) so it can use heavier bullets than the standard stuff, but still be accurate with the regular rounds without spinning them too much and making them come apart.

Much to read here; Ammo Oracle (http://ammo-oracle.com).
The Wylde chamber being described here (http://www.ammo-oracle.com/body.htm#diff)

The woo had a 1/12 twist....I wanted something that would spin 40-62 grain bullets with a little more accuracy out of the 11 1/2 barrel....
That and I want a can and my old barrel was shot out :)
