View Full Version : Finally a range report...
I got this bug and have bought a few pistols over the winter months, 2 llama 45's, 1 norinco 45, a taurus tracker in 45 auto, and a S&W double action 45.
So today was the big day, spent all night loading mags, spent several hours emptying said mags at the used to be local range. I have to say out of all of them I was very impressed with the two llama's, both take GI mags, both ate whatever ammo I fed them and both seem to be nice pistols.
The pistol that beats all of them hands down is the S&W 5943 in 9mm. It shot circles around anything I brought to the range. I had better luck with the pistols today, and I was glad to get 6 of them out to the range. Long stretch with no range time. Turns out this pistol is probabaly one of the best birthday presents a guy could get, only wish it had not taken me two years to get it out to the range.
Whew, tired and sunburned now, but very happy with my pistols.... Not happy with my POS-90....

I just traded for a Llama-Stoeger 45 auto and this is my 1st time owning one.
The previous owner told me to ONLY use Llama factory clips because they never caused any problems and that govt 1911 clips would cause jams. I would like to use govt issue 45 auto clips because the are so plentiful , anyone have any input?

Sucks you're still having problems with the ps90. Did you ever check to see if the reloads were comparable to factory ammo as far as OAL and whatnot?

I have a omni, it functions ok on what ever mag I feed it. Just remember soon you will be paying premium for anything parts wise on a llama, as they are out of busness again.
As for my high cap llama, I used meggar mags with it(there are no high cap llamas reasonablly priced as they were a ban gun, with ten rounders except for leo).

Did not know they were out of business, that might be why the factory mags were so expensive. I'm not sure what model this Llama is and I would post pics but the wifey is out of town and has my digital camera. The pistol looks just like a govt 1911 w/ a 7rd single stack mag and has GABILONDO Y CIA-VICTORIA (ESPANA) on the ejector side of the slide w/Stoger Industries S.Hackensack, NJ made in Spain stamped under it on the receiver. The flip side just has Llama CAL.45 on it and it did not come with an owners manual. She has some type of exotic wood grips that are groved for your fingers and the pistol has a satin stainless looking finish. She has a nice feel for a clone and seems very well made.
