ive looked there, i would like to know the twist rates, i would think a barrel made for heavy bullets may not shoot 7.62x25 as well? Maybe i get a few 1919 308 barrels and cut off the chamber and ream it out for 7.62x25?

i want to have an 18 inch barrel so i wonder what kind of twist rate i would need for the 86gr standard surplus 7.62x25 rounds?

Kevin you may want to look into the 7.62x25 specs, but as i recall there .311 and not .308,so barrel .303 british or 7.62x54r might provide a better starting point.

Good advice. .311 is the better choice and may be easier/cheaper to get.

There is a guy on weaponsguild that is starting to be doing a run of barrels. You might want to get up with him and see what he is going to charge. If you only need one barrel it would be cheaper than buying a blank and reamer. He is also going to be making PPSH41 and PPS43 barrels.

Any of the 7.62x25 that I have miced has been .308. Though .311 barrels have been used in a time of need. Depending on how meaty you want the chamber to be you could look at what sarco has, Springfield cut down barrels 20" long or so. http://www.sarcoinc.com/5-10-09%202-minusP-Q.pdf Last page lower left hand side second from the bottom both 2 and 4 grove. If you want a looser bore .311 could look into a bren barrel... I don't know how the bore is like on them though....http://www.centerfiresystems.com/search.aspx?find=bbl-bren
