AK-Builder has Folding Stock Receiver Reinforcement Plates for sale. I am in process of building an AMD 65 and was curious if this is required or recommeded for this build. They offer one for side folders, just wanted to get some input on it.
Thanks,

It was not originally installed on an AMD65 but the added reinforcement won't hurt. If you want to save a few bucks here is a cheap alternative. Be careful when removing the rear trigger guard rivet from the old receiver stub. Looking at the stub from the bottom cut it square at the back of the trigger hole. Trim the sides so it will fit on the inside of the receiver. Cut the back to allow room for the rear trunnion to clear it. Line the hole up for the pistol grip nut and spot weld in place. I will post a pic of one tomorrow (after I make it).

Thanks for the information walt-oxie1!!!
I will be building two AMD-65 kits in October. I already received the kits with the pre-ban barrel and everything, all numbers matching. The kits are in mint condition and I am really excited to get the builds underway. I will be sure to post pics when I get them built.
Thanks again

AMD is great weapon. Mine goes to the range everytime. I use a red dot scope with it and it is really accurate and fast to use.
Rear support isn't necessary. Can't hurt. I've had mine for quite some time now. Several years and have had no problems whatsoever.

How did you bend the stock to fit around the drum?
That looks very good.
