Finally after more than 2 years of messing around I got it finished and ready for the range.
It's a Cetme parts kit with a "new barrel"' I got from CFS about 2 or 3 years ago. I built it on a JDL PTR-91 receiver, so it has an HK G3 rearsight, CTD wood and a mixture of compliance parts from several different sources.
I Duracoated it except for the flash suppressor and trigger group. Those parts I parked in a stainless steel pot using a homemade park recipie. They turned out too light for my taste so I thought about painting them but remembered something I read about trying cold blue on top of park to darken it up. It worked great.
I haven't got a chance to take it to the range I had company all weekend, maybe sometime this week after work.

Looks great Smoke.. I don't know enough about CETME/G3 builds to coment about what you have done. Except it looks great, man I coudn't have built such a nice trim looking rifle. You did a great job and the park/cold Blue looks great.

Very nice job. Hope it shoots as good as it looks. With a new barrel, I'm sure it will.

:thumbup::thumbup: Nice clean looking build!!! It shows that you took your time and didn't cut any corners. I like the extended cocking lever...I think when I pull mine apart to park them I'll go with that... Looking forward to your range report.

Nice rifle. It's good to see a project through, isn't it?

Wood on a rifle is always nice. Especially a classic ole cetme. Waffle mag looks nice also.

In reality all of these old Cetmes' are "Frankencetmes".

It is very near impossible to find any original military rifle with original parts in good shape.

IF you do, you will pay a premium, and it probably never saw service. I'd rather have a military Franken anything that has history and has been lavished with a lot of hand cured restoration grease.

good job on the rifle.

Looks great. What Duracoat color did you use?

I used Semigloss Black(HK) It's a little shinier than I like, but I'm not going to change it. I followed directions, but I think I got a little too thick a coat, it didn't run or sag but according what I read the thicker the coat the shinier.

Like a charm, I drilled a hole through the left side of the receiver, then soldered in a ground down 8/32 nut inside the right of the receiver. Threaded the hole I drilled and installed the paddle with bronze bushing I found at Lowe's. Then I cut the 8/32 all-thread flush with the flat edge of the shelf, then promptly forgot to weld over it. I didn't notice that I had forgotten until after I painted. (this was all done over a couple of months, I was supposed to weld it up when I did the trunnion and cocking tube welds.) I scraped off the Duracoat (I had to use sharp knife and literally whittle it off.) Then I took wet fiberglass cloth and wrapped up everything but the area I was going to weld, and gave it about 5 seconds with my cheap azzed HF wire feed welder. I filed it down smooth again, masked off the area and gave it some shots of black krylon. I didn't want to try and mix up a 1/2 teaspoon of Duracoat just to paint that 1/2 square inch of metal. It is mostly hidden under the ears of the trigger group.

I really love the furniture that you have on it! Wish mine looked that good.

Also, if you add too much hardener it will be shiny.

I normally mix duracoat very sparingly and always have leftover hardener. If you only mix a table spoon for touching up and such, a single drop of hardener is all that is needed. I also cheat and use a tiny artists brush to reinforce the edges and touch up.

Finally, I 600 grit sand the duracoat before putting on the last coat. I wet sand it, and spray the final coat on. It will fill a lot of blemishes and leave your rifle baby bottom smooth.:icon_biggrin:

I did these two in "parker" color and was very impressed with it. It really doesn't look like parkerizing to me. It is a nice metallic gray color though.
