This is a picture of my niece, nefews, my kids & one of my kids friends. I'm trying to raise them right!!!!
The little one on the end did not shoot this time out. She has a few years of learning to go.
Tested out my $250 Ak. Ran like a top with the hi-caps 30 rounders.

Neat pic...I bet they had a ball! I always like seeing kids getting into the sport.
I'm just putting the finishing touches on a target .22 I'm building for my 7 year old daughter.

Too bad. I think it would be pretty cool to shoot a rifle that's a foot taller than I am :)

Way to go Pigpen! That is the future of shooting standing there. Thank you for passing on our heritage to generations to come.
:thanks:

My kids are the 1st & 3rd from the right. The oldest has a hard time holding the 10/22 & aiming @ the same time so I have been thinking about one of the youth modles.

nah, wouldnt bother buying a youth setup, they will grow into it pretty soon. Its the perfect excuse to get a bullpup stock thou....

PS, gotta start training them on small unit tactics thou. Gotta make good lil wolverines. :ninja:

Thats true, but I can always think of another reason for a new gun.
That black AK in the pic is one I got from a relative for $250. I messed with the trigger guard a little & filed the mag well wider & now it will take the 30rd mags. Tried a few different mags & it functioned perfect. I got screws holding the trigger gruard on for now until I can get some rivets.

I would love to know how you pulled that one off with 7 young folks... took my 6 neices and nefews paintballin and was glad I knew about barrel plugs. They were all waving barrels in folks faces with fingers on the triggers.
Looks like a good time had by all, thanks for sharing Pigpen!

It was not too hard to keep their booger pickers off the triggers, just threaten them with an awful death & they listen pretty good.

:smartass: you are wise in your teachings. I'll have to try that!
My next step was to stick the offending finger down my paintgun and pull the trigger, but I'll try your way.

There is my all time favorite,"If one of you little terds screw up you're all gonna pay". Mass punishment keeps them in line, that is most important around guns & works well for just about anything.

Thats awesome! Most people look at me funny when I tell them my dad taught me how to shoot on my 3rd birthday! That was my birthday present, he took me out and taught me how to shoot the old Marlin 39a... I still have it sitting right at the end of my bed. for my 4th, he let me start shooting the 22-250 and the 50 cal muzzle loader, on the 5th, we moved p to shotguns, which I didnt take real kindly to seeing as we only had a 12-gauge pump, and it just about knocked me over. So he taught me how to handle a pistol, and I started shooting a Ruger single six.
Get that little one a chipmunk 22... they got the pink ones all over the place. They're fun to plink with even for a grown man once they grow outta them...
p.s. I grew up in podunkville west TX, population of our "town" (really an el paso natural gas plant/camp) was about 150 or so, and teaching youngins how to shoot was not at all uncommon. I was the 4th kid to learn how to shoot on the 3rd birthday in my family. Its crazy to look at my nieces and nephews who are all younger than 7 and think that someone could actually give one of them a gun... but the culture in Austin is a tad different than that of West TX. I did get to help/watch my brother teach his oldest son how to shoot when he was 5... We shot clays, and his little boy has a 410. We'd throw the clay, and he'd try his hardest to aim at it, and I'd shoot at the same time as he would and bust the clay for him... Im pretty sure he hit it a time or 2 though.
Very neat! keep up the good work with those kids... we need more kids growing up with RESPONSIBLE gun handling skills!
