Ok so my brother bought a siaga 12, standard model in all respects, looks nice and shoots better than i thought one would. i hafta admit i wasnt a fan and am still skeptical, but it works like a champ. Now he wants to do minor customization. no mall ninja crap, just some nice wood, but i cant seem to find anyone selling wood furniture for it, and i figure one of y'all might know any help would certainly be appreciated.

The wood on Saigas are mostly designated to the .308 models. There were some Saiga 12 shotguns with wooden furniture but I can't recall what happened to them. Either limited production run or were only imported for a short while before the polymer sets became standard. I think they're still available in Russia.

You might be able to track down wooden Saiga 12 furniture at...

http://www.rusmilitary.com/html/c-deact_furniture.htm

They have the wooden handguard for the Saiga 12 in stock on their website but send an email first. I was going to buy an 1P21 SVD scope from them which the website showed as in stock but when I emailed them they were sold out.

Might be a long shot but if you're brother is doing a full conversion to its AK-style roots, then wooden furniture from any standard AK will also work.

I would deffinetly go with a full conversion and use regular AK stuff, at least for the stock and pistol grip. That site Mr. Squiggles posted has an awsome looking wood handguard. I would get that first and find a matching stock and PG. I would have done mine in wood but I didnt know about that site. Guess Ill be getting another saiga. I wouldt mind doing the conversion again either!

Essentailly any buttstock that is for a stamped reciever will fit a saiga. PG's will fit if you cut a hole in the bottom of the reciever, OR use the Tromix D-I-Y kit and it doesnt require you cut into your reciever. Its meant for a SAW PG but will fit a wood I would think, maybe minor fitting. Where there's a will, theres a way.

That looks awesome. I would get a set of that wood if it was for sale by itself. Shoot, I would even do another conversion with that stuff.

Don't know but have you check with ironwood designs?

The problem with a saiga, unless you get a split or reweld the retainer for the hand guard, you have to use some model for them specifically. There are solutions but they are expensive. That said, if you want easy furniture, there always is the Tapco combo stock and grip for any saiga. I might get motivated to built the shotty into a aw style but its almost the only one I would. The .308 might become a saiganov some day.

The gas tube/block on a Saiga-12 can be removed and one with the standard AK back sight can be put in it's place. Regular AK furniture can then be put on it. I'm trying to find the link; I'll post it if I find it. :airtight:

EDIT: D@#%, they're $300 though.

Luckily I sent my gas tube in when it was $250=P. My gas tube is being shipped back to me this week after a 5 month wait(totally worth it), I'll post some pics so you guys can check it out.
