Okay, I've searched and I can't find a decent instruction set on installing the wide handguard on a cetme. I know there is some fitting required. I got the collapsible stock in thanks to the info I have found here, but I have only seen people say either modify the hand guard or the barrel. Just curious if anyone has decent instructions. Also, will the push pin from the clipped lower work for the front of the wide handguard? It looks like if I can clear the barrel it will work, but I haven't been able to get that far.

thanks,
Tom

The wide handguard is designed for the later G3 rifles which do not have the rings behind the triple frame at the barrel. these are what make the modifications necessary.

The two approaches are:
1) Remove the rings from the triple frame by grinding them off.
2) Cut a slot in the handguard to accomodate the rings.

Thanks. Does the push pin go through the front of the hand guard between the barrel and cocking tube?

thanks,
Tom

On the G3, the pin goes through a bracket which is welded on to the cocking tube... If you carefully cut the depth on the handguard for the rings on the CETME triple frame, taking out a little at at time and checking the depth as you go, you can fit the pin to snugly fit over the top of the CETME barrel.

As Bladeworks said, did exactly that and a wide handguard fits great, the pin fits tight enough that no special guide like on the G3 is needed.

Go slow, the HK plastic material is very durable but cuts very quickly with a dremel.

grinding out the handguard is the best way and as said go slow and check often. 1/8" - 2/8" is close to all that is needed.

Here is a photo of the finished modification to the handguard:

You want to go slow and not grind out too much as it will cause the metal end to come off.
