don't use + size rollers. if you can find the use - sized rollers. Use + size when bolt gap shrinks over time. Use - to begin with and you won't have to repress barrel for a longer period.

find some well used standard rollers and a semi worn locking piece

+1 to what Kevin said,
If you start out with Standard rollers and worn locking piece, then you can move up to + size rollers and/or a new locking piece later on after more wear occurs.
Remember that these parts will "wear in" initially as the mating surfaces contour to each other. this usually gives a drop in bolt gap of about 4-5 thousandths of an inch.

I've never thought about using worn out stuff when setting the BG the first time, but that makes total sense... then when the gap starts to drop, youve got a bunch of different options to raise it back up... ITS GENIUS! I guess its basically the same concept as using the - sized rollers. I just always figured a rifle with a new BH, LP, and rollers would run like a bat outta hell.

Obviously they used new parts at the factory, but by starting out with somewhat worn parts, you give yourself that extra little bit of life before having to repress again.

I hear so much talk about having to repress the barrel once x amount of wear happens and +2, +4 rollers are no longer enough. What type of life span is expected before a CETME reaches this point? 1000 rounds, 5 thousands, 10 thousand?
Thanks!

the question is more about the used parts that can't be changed ie trunion.should one start with std.rollers or + size to compensate for wear?i have no intention on using worn part's that are easy to replace.

You are pressing the barrel into the trunnion West Coast, you don't need +rollers...those are for when your parts wear and the gap drops out of spec.

With a gun at the top end of spec with all standard stuff, youll have WAAAAY over 10K rounds... probably closer to 50K.
most of us will NEVER shoot enough to wear out one of these rifles, and the ones that are worn out, were worn out before we ever even saw them.
