Took a demilled receiver and rewelded it into a semi-auto version.

Anyway. It's green and mean.

Hey Steely, and Armor, can't wait to see what this might do at
300 yds.

Man you are good! I had a well known rewelder decline to do one for me. Said it was too hard. Well done!

Dayum, Rahalatkhoom! That is a thing of beauty. I'm sure it'll ring the plate out at 300, since the AKs did!

I'm a little known welder who didn't know any better. :icon_biggrin:
It was a long and frustrating rebuild, mainly getting it to stay in alignment
while welding up the joints. The final clean up and detailing I began to
see light at the end of the tunnel. Quite a good feeling.
I put in about 28-30 hours in this project.

I got the semi-sear, (3 pc.), from CzechPoint.
Real nice system. Also the tac furniture.

Minor pitting from the welds. Sandblasting emphasizes the flaws prior to paint.
I'm happy though.

Looks great!!! I agree, you need to stretch it out to 300 yards for a good field test:)

I am very impressed! How many bottles of gas did you go through and how many pounds of rods? :lolgreen:
You aren't a good welder, you are a GREAT WELDER!

Man, you rock...... Duracoat makes some stuff that you can spray on then sand off to fill pits before you put the final coat on.

I used solder to fill some pits on one of my builds and it worked very nicely, but was a pain to do. On another build I had a couple of pits that I wanted to cover up and tried a little Epoxy Steel putty. That stuff is great! The real schiznitz for filling tiny pits and imperfections. It sanded smooth and was completely invisible under the Duracoat (don't use JB Weld, for some reason no amount of paint will cover it up!)

Thanks for the tips guys.
I will probably look into the Epoxy filler next time I do this.

I might try to build one with a AK flat ,then weld the rails in side . I bet it could be done.

I think I got it at Auto-Zone, but I think the stuff I got had a Silver wrapper on it.

that stuff is pretty tough smoke. i used it to temporarily hold in the pin on my paddle release for my g3. wanted to do some function testing. it has since been grinded off and welded over.

I would've thought the dimensions would be hard to get just right because of the shrinkage, with 3 major weld seams on each side. How did you deal with that.
What compliance parts did you use ?

Great job man................................
