I just got around to taking photos of my New Mosin Nagant that I picked up last week. I have made my first range trip and everything works just fine. The action was acceptably smooth for a roughly made 1943 Izhevsk. It was re-arsenaled to "new condition" with a laminated stock. The barrel looks new. I did a very thorough cleaning so I never had any diffiulty with anything sticking in the chamber. I was able to group 4-5 inches at 100 yards but I think I can tighten it up with something better than some fairly poor Bulgarian ammo and a little more practice.

I paid top dollar (as Nagants go) at Dunham which about equals what the Web price for what hand select would have been with with shipping and FFL transfer added in. I thought is was worth that to get a chance to inspect and pick my own. The bore is perfect as the barrel appears to be new.

By the way, the Finnish strippers are very tight on the rounds and too tight in the rifle. They are just for show. I think that I will continue to load shells one at a time until someone can direct me to some stripper clips that really work.

I picked mine up at Big 5 Sporting Goods in Mesa, AZ. They sell the old surplus rifles at great prices. I hand picked mine from a choice of 5. It was around a $100 after tax.

I do have a question...I notice a second bolt below the grip on the stock. Is that normal? I realized that mine does not have it.

my laminate has that bolt too, but the other five mosins I've got don't

That is quite a looker,congrats!
You will find that reinforcement on all Rus refurb laminates.
I have been looking for strippers that work in these for about 12 years now. No joy.

i really like the laminated stock mosin nagants, yours looks beautiful. beware that they are very habit (rabbit)forming, you cannot just have one. thank you for the pictures.
