Hello again i just found a cetme for 450 but i talk the dealer down to 410 out the door w/ 4 mags i did not have a feeler tool to check bolt gap but this price is hard to beat, the gun seems to be in good shape but it has the ugly wood furniture, what do you think without checking the bolt cap, help me make a good decision

I have a couple of questions:
1) Cast receiver or stamped?
2) Check the bolt gap
3) Does it cock easily?
4) Is the bolt ground?
If everything checks out, that seems like a good price. Heck, I'd even trade you some HK furniture for the wood. Post pics if you end up with it!

I would run down to the auto parts store and pick up a set of feeler guages on my way back to check it again, then run through the checklist posted by LostInTexas.

Here's a link to the buyer's guide, lots of good into. You may want to check the sticky at the top of this forum. I think it's called HK&Cetme info, the second one down if memory serves me.

You can tell if the bolt is ground by measuring the length with some dial calipers... it should be 1.835" long.
Bolt gap should be between .004" and .020", and preferably on the high side.
a stamped receiver will have the rear sight welded on rather than cast in place like a cast receiver, and stamped receivers are generally $100 or so cheaper than cast... if its cast, Id go for it PERIOD, even if its got issues.
Its got wood furniture, so its moderately safe to assume it didnt start out its life as a black widow, so compliance shouldnt be an issue.
for $410 out the door, if everythings in spec, its a damn good deal!

I agree if its a cast receiver, I would go for it even with issues, otherwise I would check the bolt gap and the rest of the recomended checks above, and do some reading on ground bolt signs.
Heres the short cut to the sticky.

Hey if you do get it, I could trade you my black furniture, and trigger group.

For what these are starting to go for I'd buy it at that price, especially if the bolt gap was good.
