So I am relatively new to the AR. I have been heavy into pistols for several years but I am trying to get more involved in rifles as well.

I had been contemplating it and then the new attorney general made his comments about reinstating an AWB and I decided I better act fast. Since then I've purchased 6 lower receivers with all the parts kits to complete them, 3 MagPul MOE and 3 CTR stocks, a Del-Ton upper and a Stag 2ht upper halves. I'd order more upper halves, but I only have so much $...

As of now I dont have anything but lowers, lower parts, and stocks. The uppers will take several more months from what I hear.

So, my question to you all is this...Why does it seem like Stag Arms doesnt get a ton of respect? I've read all about "the chart" which lists all of the items you should be on the look out for when looking for a "top tier" rifle. Seems people only think that LMT, Noveske, BCM, and Colt are the only worthy rifles and all others are just toys. But I decided to call Stag to see what they do to their rifles. After reading through "the list" and questioning them on whether or not they do what is listed, they do most everything people are looking for. The only thing they dont do is use a 1x7 4150 barrel with m4 feed ramps. They do MP test barrels, and bolts, the use the F marked FSB the barrel is parkerized under the FSB, etc.

Dont get me wrong, I dont think that people are comparing Stag to Oly (which appears to be the red headed step child of the AR world) but it doesnt appear to get the respect it should considering all the features they offer. And the price is hunreds less than most others considering that they come with BUIS and others dont.

So, anyone have an opinion of Stag. or Del-Ton for that matter?

Gun snobs!!!!! You get what you can afford and like it! I had an Olympic years back, no issues. I have a DPMS now, no problem. Fit, finish, etc..don't mean crap if you're gonna use and abuse it. Now I may buy one high shelf instead of 3 or 4 mid shelf but that's just me. I don't keep duplicates because I can afford only so much and there are so many choices out there.
The only AR that I haven't liked was my sons Bushmaster and that is only because the gas key wasn't staked well and that God-awful muzzle brake was pointed at your face. It ran fine.
A different kind of breed on this site. A Mosin is butt-ugly and useless......to the untrained eye. It is actually a brilliant piece of simplicity that does its job and is brute tough. Snobs don't like them that's why the rest of us get them cheap!
Stag and Delton are both good. I might lean toward Delton.

Well,I assembled a DelTon A2 chrome barrel kit on a Stag Lower. Several hundred rounds later, everything is still working perfectly. It shoots as well as my friends Colt, for a lot less. There is a lot of snobbery in the AR world, more so then even Mauser collectors. You did your research. That counts for more then opinion in my book.

thanks for the comments. I have noticed some of the snobbery that people have over their AR's. Just like people get over their Aimpoints and EoTechs.

Personally I plan on starting off with a BUIS and getting as proficient as possible with them before getting any optics. When I do get optics I will more than likely lean towards a Vortex Strikefire. Of course the Aimpoint owners basically say that any non aimpoint is a waste of $, but I have read a lot of people who seem to think that the Strikefire is an impressive red optic. Plus, it is NVG compatible like some of the Aimpoints.

Eventually Id like to move on up to a Comp M3 Aimpoint, but that is a very long EVENTUALLY considering the $500 price...

Well, thanks for the input guys. I appreciate it.

I have a Del-Ton mid length rifle kit on a Mega Machine lower, so far zero problems with it. It runs every bit as well as my 20" post ban Bushmaster. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from Del-Ton again, good people to do buisness with.

I don't have any experience with Stag arms AR's but i do have a buddy who is considering getting one for the main reason that he is left handed.

I hve been looking at the Vortex strikefire as well, seems like a decent scope for the money.

My Stag is the top one and it shoots just fine, no problems at all from it.

Same thing for the Doublestar underneath it.

There are people who think they have to have what ever the rags are calling the latest and greatest at the moment but I get way more pleasure knowing I built my own and they work just as good...

I bought my wife a Stag 4L, as she is a southpaw. Put a Jard trigger in it for her with a few other improvements. It is a fine rifle. Best of all she likes it. I have nothing but good things to say about Stags.
