"With all the attention that's been paid lately to long federal sentences for drug offenders, it's surprising that a far more troubling phenomenon has barely hit the media's radar screen. Every year, thousands of upstanding, responsible Americans run afoul of some incomprehensible federal law or regulation and end up serving time in federal prison."

It isn't just the firearms enthusiast that has the spotlight! You better have an attourney just to have a thought or idea if it gets too much more generalized in the way laws can be interpreted! I am surprised none of the people at townhall meetings haven't been thrust into the Homeland Security Federal spotlight for speaking their mind and being enthusiastic in the way they present their questions and thoughts! I was watching the news and one gentleman was calm and before he asked his question he explaned it was a yes or no question and not one that needed elaborated on! Guess What? He never got an answer but a sly smile and the representative looked for someone else to get a question from! THEY WANTED CHANGE! NOW THEY GOT IT! Voters wanting to be represented by their elected officials!

I am not writing to start a fued but just think it's strange that no one has been arrested yet and wonder if this isn't going to turn into something worse before answers start to flow. It is funny how the news media all day long are airing the public views and have changed sides on who they support. Health Care may be a long nasty one and I hope it isn't forever like the OJ trial! Why can't politicians just answer a yes or no question? I already know the answer! I hope the public does too! Most politicians will never get pinned down for an answer because it could be political suicide! I would not want to be a representative that was asked like one was today "who do you think you work for"? Maybe this will bring a true leader and statesman to the surface that will do his due diligence! We can only hope!

I'm not a federal criminal, but I play one in my mind.

I hate having to act like there are secret police and informers everywhere, ready to turn you you for exercising your rights.

My M1 Garand poster has come full circle:
Are you careful what you say or write?

Even my kids are noticing how bad things are on occasion. ( they are adults now )

Orchids? They arrested him for growing orchids? If that particular species in endangered, then wouldn't growing them be a good thing, as it bolstered a species on the brink of extinction? What in the hell?

It was not sanctioned by a federally subsidised program so all knowlege can be spirited away and controlled! Yea, I know, I have always been labeled the conspiracy guy! But, in retrospect, I was right all along. just ask my long time friends! if you own the information, you control the power!

My father used to tell me to be careful what you think and say because there are those that further their own ego by manipulating what people say and do to control the outcome of a situation! He was a glider pilot for the group of comandos he and the CO led on the battle of the bulge during WWII. They just happened to be given a low fortification beach to land at and do their mission! It seems during all great societies there have been those that wanted control at any cost and were willing to go to great lengths to get it!

I see your children are noticing now but for me it started with my fathers insight and even my children see and feel the effects today!

It is nothing more than an erotion of our rights and values for an alternative agenda! Just my .02!

I want to run presidential debates. I would give each candidate a small sign on a wood stick. One side would say "YES" the other "NO". When asked a question they would hold up the corresponding side to thier answer. Talking out of turn/elaborating without being asked....you are out of the race. What are your questions.

Wow, more evidense of why all over reaching government is the greatest threat we face no matter who is in control.
Remember, Hitler's crew sent millions to their deaths because they were sure they were just because they wanted to make a better world for their children.

I think this article is a repeat in this forum from July.

anyhow:

"The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws"---AYN RAND

and:

"corruptisima republica plurimae leges". (The more corrupt the republic, the more laws is has)
