long post...

well, the day started off great. the range was quiet and only about 8 people total. i got my scope and started to scope it in. i started at 100 yards and got it spot on at 100. *yes, i forgot to take pics till when i was going home* anywho, went to the 200 yard mark and started scoping it in there. all where within the 9 and 10 ring *which shocked me some* but i was trying to get alittle more accurate. loaded up a new mag (went thru 180 rounds so far, and total ive but thru it up to now is roughly 1200 rounds), 1st shot was a FTE and the next round was trying to feed. so i drop the mag and all that. next shot, FTW and the next round was trying to feed again. Hmm. changed mags to see if it was the mag. next shot, SAME exact thing. next 2 rounds, same thing. so i checked it out, everything "looked" ok. next shot, new mag, FTE and same thing. but this time, the bolt went WAY back and the charging handle was all the way forward (and loose). so while i was trying to figure that out, time went by and the time for that 15 min session was up. so i sat it down, checked the target and picked up my brass. THATS when i noticed the last 40 rounds, the brass was ok, some had little "V" in the neck, but nothen bad since i installed the shell deflector. so i figure i just need to move it up alittle more. BUT the last 7 when i had all those FTE's, it looked like i took a sledge hammer to the top 1/3 of the brass. just BEYOND messed up. so anywho, i shot about 600 rounds thru my XDm, no issues... then went home. When i got home, took the cetme apart, and saw both reasons for the issues. the bolt was still shoved way back. but 1 of the 2 pins where the guide rod is, came 1/2 way out and was sticking out the front of the bolt carrier. so i took that out, and everything worked fine. so when im cleaning the rifle/bolt, i see the shelf deflector is..well.. that lip is just..gone. :eek: so needless to say i bought a few new parts from RTG. anyone ever have something like this happen, or tell me how the pin came out on its own?

Cetmes always seem to do unique and interesting things. I haven't heard of that one before, but will add it to the list of things to check in the future.

The stock pins for the keeper at the end of the guide rod are just peened steel pins, not roll or tension pins. This means that if one of the peened areas gets worn back to standard diameter, the pin has nothing holding it in place, and can work loose easily.

You can avoid this in the future by replacing the stock pins with roll pins, but they will need to be trimmed to length.

*small update

I ordered a few parts from RTG last weekend, got them yesterday and installed them. i got;

Recoil Spring
Stop Pin
Guide Ring
Rivet x2
Extractor
Extractor Spring
Locking Piece
Spring

Comparing the new HK springs (guide rod and recoil).. WOW, beyond an improvement over stock. alot thicker and more tention to them. if u are still rocken stock stuff, spend the few $ and upgrade these! i also got the firing pin. that in itself looks TONS better then the stock peice. i got the pins as well, but while waiting for them to get here, i found some of that rolled stuff .. so i put that in instead of the push pins (but have them as a back up). ill be going to the range in the moring and see how it does.
