Ireland was thinking about sending their Small army north in 1969 to conduct a guerrilla war against the British. Even including the cooks, clerks and cops they couldn't find enough men.

Very interesting, I had never heard that before. I doubt it would have worked well for them, with such a small army, but who knows?

Fascinating and full of great what if's.

Like, would Moscow have offered aid to a beleaguered Irish Republican Army? Would the US and NATO have offered military support to a struggling Brit army?
