Depends on how much they are asking for it.

Austria is a very developed country and the ammo should be comparable to German, Swiss, British, etc (imho)

Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking. The only reason the question arose is because I had my brother look at some for me and he said it was kind of dirty looking.

I can get it for about $6/box of 20, which isn't that cheap I know, but that's about what Pakistani and even Indian is going for now.
Also, considering I just saw some SA up for sale for $70/battlepack, the Austrian is starting to look more and more attractive.

bad as it sounds, I'd get as much as I could at that price, it doesn't look like it is going down in price soon.:(

The Austrian 7.62x51 ammo I have had in the past has been the very finest surplus I have ever used. I would jump on it.

Are we talking about ammo from the down under, Australian, or Austria. Just wondering, the Austraian is good and I cannot imagine the Austrian is bad either. Some of the Australian was rumored to be made over seas(I beleive argentian but cannot remember though, read your head stamps to make sure you are getting what you buy)

I'm sure you all won't be surprised to hear that that ammo is long gone

I don't know if you can still get it but by all means purchase as much of the Aussie stuff as you can. I'm sitting on about 1600 rounds of the stuff and everything I cycle it through loves it. The only drawback is that its berdan primed to reloading it can be a bit expensive.

Hahah, reminds me of a lady I met in the supermarket. She asked about my accent and I told her I was from Australia. She then regaled me with stories of skiing in the Alps when her dad was stationed in Germany! She was a little shocked when I explained that it doesn't snow much in the Outback! :O

She thought you couldn't pronounce Austria correctly. Probably a grad from a left wing college.
