I've found a Norinco 54 in 7.62x25 and have also seen them as a model 213 in 9mm.
I would like to be able to convert between 7.62 and 9mm.

What parts would I need?
Obviously the barrel, and I've seen something about a magazine with or without an insert. Are there any other parts or concerns?

Thanks,
Bill

I believe you can buy 9mm mags for the Norinco. Gunbroker.com should have them. I don't recall an insert in mine. A different recoil spring might be required. I don't see why anything else should be changed.

I know you can get a 9mm barrel for the CZ-52, so I'm guessing the case head is the same...

I beleive the magazines will even work, the only thing needed was the barrel.

Hokay, decided I needed to get my two TTs out and really find out what's what.

The 9mm mag is shorter front to back than the 7.62 mag.

It rattles around in the 7.62 magwell and does not lock.

The 9mm TT has a spacer in the magwell.

You will need a 7.62 mag with a spacer for 9mm. in.http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=70666030

My 9mm 213 has the spacer in the mag.
I think there were several 54/213's some with the spacer in the mag and some in mag well.
I also think there was a double stack but not sure.

You have it eays, finding a 9mm barrel is easier than the way I want to go, I need a 7.62x25 barrel. I have a mag already, just need a barrel.

I guess I might have to see how well mine feeds 9mm because I compared my m54 mags and they are as long as my cz52 mags, or look for a 7.62x25 barrel.

I've got a 213 and I've heard that switching it to shoot 7.62x25 will cause it to wear out prematurely. Apparently it isn't heat treated very well. I've opted to keep mine 9mm since I love shooting it. any thoughts on this?

Generally Norinco handgun steel is very tough. You could buy a Wolff recoil spring for the Tokarev - none are offered for the 9mm - and keep it on the 7.62 barrel. There shoudn't be any problem that way. Or you could buy Wichester 7.62 x 25 ammo, it's not as hot as soviet bloc stuff. I put a Wollf spring in my Soviet TT33 since I didn't know how old the spring was that came with it.

Thanks for the info. And a big thanks to Navada for the pictures. That pretty much clears up the questions I had on the spacers.

I found a source for the 9mm barrel and the spacer that attaches inside of the magwell.

I think I would rather have the spacer in the mags than the magwell, but it will depend on mag prices. I have someone locally that is supposed to be getting me a handfull of 9mm mags, so I'll have to see which type he has.

Landtoy80, I saw some 7.62 barrels somewhere. I'll backtrack and see where they were.
