Any AK experts? Can someone tell me what the purpose of this "button" or "rivet" is on the inside of the M64? It is the rivet/button located over and in between the autosear and the hammer pin holes and circled in yellow.

Do you know if there are any photos or illustration anywhere of this bolt hold open, the inner workings of it?

Wow!

I have been looking for a picture of one of those intact on a stub for ages. Yep, it's the bolt hold open. Would also love to get a shot of the inner workings. I assume the button can move in and out?

Negative. It is, or at least seems to be riveted firmly in place, no possibility for movement at this point. If it is supposed to move, I do not understand how. My understanding is that the bolt hold open "device" or gizmo goes attached further forward on another hole towards the front trunion. This may be part of the inner workings of it, but for the life of me, I cannot figure out how it would operate. There must be someone out there with answers.
