I don't post around here, but I do come here now and again because I have a high level of respect for the members and the knowledge here. So I thought I would drop by and share my latest screw up.

I fell in love with this pistol at a local gun/pawn shop shortly after they opened and I saw it in the case. It was selling for $1300 with the holster.

Months and months ago, I decided I wanted it and got the price down to $1100 out the door (tax included). I put it on lay-a-way, and slowly knocked my balance down.

This is what I ended up with:

Turns out I screwed up kinda bad. From posting around on the internet, I have learned that what I bought was a 1918 Colt frame with scallops cut on it, with a Remington Rand slide. Sadly, I was told it is worth way less than I paid for it. I was told around $600.

THe funny thing, I have buyer's remorse when I think about it, until I look at my gun. Its just perfect to me! It has exactly the features, finish, and look I want. Its taken over nightstand duty from my Sig P220 Equinox, because its just fun to have there to look at!

Worth is what someone is willing to pay. If you are fine with $1100, and like the pistol the rest does not really matter.

Nice.....I'm pleased that you're pleased. I have needed things also to ensure my happiness that have made others raise their brow.

Looks good, and isn't a new remake.

Don't feel so bad. When I got my 45 at a gun show 10 or so years ago, I knew what I wanted. I was looking for a used GI 1911 with character. I found what I was looking for , the guy wanted $425 for it and I paid it(even though some of the guys with nearby tables were poo poohing the price) I was happy with it and still love it today. It is an Essex frame with a Colt slide and was a Rock Island Arsenal rebuild for WW2. It has the US Property stamp on the slide and the US Army M1911 stamp on the slide. I don't care if it isn't pretty. I shoots good and I have done minimal work to it (New barrel, full length recoil rod, diamond grips).

Enjoy it, and treat her good!

The value is what someone is willing to pay. IMO the value is what you paid and will stay that way until it is sold again and a new value is set.
If you are happy with your purchase is what truly matters. It sounds as if you are and that is worth more then money.

Many have asked me why I have added things to many of my guns when I probably couldn't recover half of it if I were to sell them. My answer always is "because it is what I want".

Enjoy your pistol and forget the price.
