I went to Viet Nam onboard the USS MIDWAY (CVA-41). At the same time, S&W made this Model 39-2 9MM pistol that I bought today that included 2 magazines and a Bianchi Model 19L Holster:

Nice piece! It DOES raise a question, though... Has S&W ever made an ugly pistol? I've never seen one. They're all just purdy as can be...

That is a cool pistol, nice to find something you liked back in the day and have the money to pick it up. I remember when those S&W 39s were considered to be the cutting edge in the 9 mm auto field.
(Did Serpico carry one in the movie or was it a Browning)

the S&W model 39 is my favorite pistol. i have owned several over the years and ended up selling them for one reason or another. they kept changing the model #'s on them, but kept the basic pistol. thanks for posting the pictures.

I have the old 59, when i bought it 20 years ago. I was going to buy the 39, nut the 59 holds 15 rounds so i went with more round. The 39 feels better, but the 59 holds more.
