i have a hungarian m44 reciever and bolt plus boohku mosin parts and i was thinking about a wildcat cartridge that i could use the 54r case. just kicking around the idea still in thought stage. thought i'd toss it out there and see what ya'll think. i'm thinking speed sheep gun as the final product, flat and fast.

Is the brass strong enough to deal with the pressure changes? You would be coming in under the 25-06 as far as ballistics or close to it if it could be done!!

.25-54 Ackley Improved w/40 degree shoulder and reduced body taper. Expensive proposition for an action not known for exceptional accuracy potential, but WTH. Go for it!

Would be similar to a 6mm/.30-30 AI but with way more case capacity and a larger bullet. Sounds like a plan. Who's gonna' build the reamers?

Got to thinking, maybe with a 6.5x54R AI you would be more in the case capacity of a 6.5/.284. Wonder if loading and ballistics would be similar? 6.5/.284 is a great target round out to 1000 yards.
