I'll agree, this isn't as complex and interesting as building an AK or CETME from scratch but it needed doing so here it goes.
With the feedback from you guys, I'm parting out the Mossberg 500A. I've ordered the 18.5 barrel and haven't settled on a stock yet. The KNOXX over-folder with recoil reduction leads the pack though.
I've got it all apart right now waiting on the barrel. A couple of years ago someone posted a gorgeous FAL in two tone. It was OD green with the smaller parts, pins, screw heads left black. I've wanted that finish on something so this one gets it. I will use GunKote in the spray can since I don't plan to buy a sprayer. The trigger group is plastic so it, the main pin, the elevator studs, and a few other pieces with get left original black. This may be slow and ready for a couple of months so I'll take pics and post as I go. Damn, didn't take a pic before I broke it down into a HUNDRED pieces.

One question that I guess I already know the answer to. I wanted to remove the safety button. The screw is tamper proof meaning the groove is rounded one way so you can only tighten it. I guess I'll have to drill and use a screw extractor??????????? What do you think?

Can you tac weld a longer bolt or screw on to it , and then unscrew it ????

The button feels like plastic, maybe not. I don't posess a welder. Either way I'm going to ruin the screw. I have a set of screw extractors at work, cost like 98.00 for a box no bigger than a credit card square and 1/4 thick! Left hand drill head on one side and left hand tapered threads on the other. They work when all else fails. I want to leave the safety black and may put an after market over-size on it.
