Idle hands and minds... 10/22 conversions

Since I am working on a P-90 + 10/22 conversion now.. I've been looking at other cheapo "look alikes"

Don't really care for the MG42 stock (saving up for a M53 anyhow)

But I've always been a fan of the MP-40. Would love a 9mm repro, but again $$$

Soooo... take the P-90 + 10/22 idea and...

Still have to get an airsoft MP-40, but the ones I am looking at are steel instead of the plastic P-90.. then I can hold up a 10/22 receiver and barrel and see if I am crazy or not...

The MP-40 folded is 24.5" or so; you'll have to add 1.5" to keep it at 26", but looks like the 10/22 barrel is plenty long... :eek:

You can eventually have an entire set of 10-22 battle rifles, SMGs, and MGs if you keep going. Can't wait to see it. Looks like there is plenty of room to gut the airsoft and put braces and brackets for the 10-22.

The GSG-5 is sooo much fun, and cheap to shoot, hard not to!

And I have a pretty good collection of the real ones, now I am slipping off into the more expensive and hard to actually get ones.

Someday I'll put my Suomi and PPSH together... there's a Bren out there someplace as well... :)

I'll probably break down and buy a "real" MP-40 SBR next year..

TEX, I am right there with you. I have been play with my AR7 to mod it to fit in a MP40 airsoft on and off for a year now. Good luck to both of us and or poor mans MP40s.

I said WTF and ordered an Airsoft MP-40.. when I get home I have to get another 10/22 for the P90 anyhow... so I'll do the MP-40 first since I know how the P90 goes together.... :)

Thank god for the flushmount 10/22 mag.. don't think you'll see it at all... and the trigger guard is a similar shape... what fun!!!


Just went and looked at an AR-7 pic.. how long is the barrel on it?

hhmmmmm... if you didn't want to mess with an Airsoft... you could get a "real" replica and modify it...

More food for thought... if the replica comes apart like the original... you could use the 10/22 receiver screw in almost the same spot..

Mount the 10/22 inside the upper and barrel shroud..... :icon_biggrin:

So you'd have to do a pistol or add a barrel extension. Need a 16" barrel, from end of chamber.

Okay the M90 was okay, but the MP40 is way cooler... Now I'm even thinking about doing it... And I THINK I know where to get one of the dummy-guns...

I already have one coming, plus a 10/22, so let me verify the spacing before you dump the funds...

ok, looks like it is feasable, but will require some permanent mods to the 10/22 receiver, as well as extending the trigger. Spacing is just a little high on the receiver.

I am waiting for fundage to acquire a 16" 10/22 to continue, at which time I will detail with pics.
